Sherco Factory Racing’s Hamish Macdonald has been confirmed to race for the win at the 2025 Gotland Grand National – the world’s largest enduro competition notorious for its tough cross-country challenge.

Back for more suffering or back for the cash prizes, current E3 EnduroGP World Championship series leader Hamish Macdonald has been confirmed to race the Gotland Grand National (GGN).

In its 42nd consecutive year, the enduro event on the Island of Gotland in the Baltic sea has confirmed through its partner Team Sherco Sweden that the New Zealander Macdonald will return to compete in GGN 2.0, 2025.

Hamish will naturally have stiff competition from the Scandinavian specialists including last year’s winner Max Ahlin. The new venue of Hejdeby, just up the road from the infamous army training ground and its brutal track, will help Macdonald however.

“Hamish Macdonald, who secured an impressive third place in 2023 as a first-time competitor in the strongest starting field in GGN’s history, will this year have the same conditions as everyone else as the GGN track has moved from Tofta training grounds after 40 years to its new location in Hejdeby on Gotland,” says Conny Bohlin of organizer Nordic Sport & Event.

“We are extremely excited about this year’s GGN 2.0. Competing with Hamish Macdonald on the brand-new GGN track will be tremendously exciting. Hamish is coming to Gotland to fight for the victory,” says Thomas Klarkner, Team Manager, Team Sherco Sweden.

Enduro21 understands the Stark Racing team will also be there with their local man, Eddie Karlsson put the Vary EX through a tough XC test.

Gotland Grand National is the world’s largest enduro race, attracting over 3,000 riders from around 15 nations every year. In 2025, the event will take place October 23–25 in Hejdeby, Gotland.
