2026 EnduroGP of Finland results: Junior rider Àlex Puey takes maiden Super Test win
WP Èric Augé Junior rider Àlex Puey caused the surprise of the day at the 2026 GP of Finland Akrapovič Super Test, setting the fastest outright time in Vierumäki. Zach Pichon was the quickest EnduroGP rider, ahead of Antoine Magain and Andrea Verona, who beat Josep García by just two hundredths of a second in the final head-to-head on a muddy special test.
With no Women class riders on track, the 125cc two-strokes of the Youth category were first to open the Akrapovič Super Test at the GP of Finland, round three of the 2026 Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship. They did so on a natural, old-school special test, without the artificial obstacles that have become increasingly common in recent seasons.
Afternoon rain left the course muddy and made several sections particularly slippery, where mistakes could easily cost time against the clock. Fresh from his podium on day one at the GP of Spain, Yago Domínguez was again right on the pace. The RFME rider, the team managed by Jaume Betriu, set the fastest time in Youth, just one tenth quicker than Fantic’s Valentin Mersin. TM Moto’s Pietro Scardina, second overall in the Youth standings, completed the top three in a category set for a change of championship leader this weekend due to the absence of the injured Riccardo Pasquato.
Domínguez’s benchmark remained safe until the leading Junior riders arrived. It was his fellow Spaniard Àlex Puey, riding for WP Èric Augé, who finally lowered the target. Already a Junior winner at the previous round in Oliana, Puey posted a stunning 1:32.15, a time that immediately looked difficult to beat. Beta Atomic Moto’s Clément Clauzier finished behind him, with championship leader Alberto Elgari third for TM Moto.
As the evening went on, the EnduroGP heavyweights took their turn, just as the rain returned to make conditions even trickier. Luca Fischeder, Julien Roussaly and Antoine Magain all got close to Puey’s time but could not beat it. Neither could Zach Pichon, despite riding on an increasingly delicate track, although the TM Moto rider dipped under the 1:33 mark and set the fastest EnduroGP time with a 1:32.90 before the much-anticipated final showdown between championship leader Josep García and Andrea Verona.
The finish could hardly have been tighter. Verona beat García by just two hundredths of a second, but even that was not enough to better Puey’s Junior benchmark. The Spaniard claimed his first ever Super Test win in the Enduro World Championship and celebrated in style under the fastest-rider awning.
Among the EnduroGP riders, Zach Pichon was quickest, ahead of Antoine Magain and Andrea Verona, who posted exactly the same time: 1:33.94. Josep García, winner of the opening two Super Tests in Custonaci and Oliana, had to settle for fourth this time.
After Friday evening’s Super Test opener, the GP of Finland begins in full tomorrow at 9:00am. Riders will face three laps of the course, with three timed special tests on each lap.
