Newly crowned 2024 ACU British Enduro Champion Dan Mundell has been forced to withdraw from the 2024 International Six Days Enduro due injury and will be replaced by Harry Edmondson.

The news no ISDE Team manager wants has been confirmed, one of Jamie Lewis’ key riders has been forced out with just weeks to go before the start of the 2024 ISDE in Spain.

Dan Mundell, who held on through the final round of British Enduro last weekend to claim the overall title, sustained a wrist injury at the penultimate round two weeks ago.

With the injury still an issue, and the Six Days naturally being a long, tough event, Mundell and the Team Manager have made the decision to withdraw.

The rider replacement will be Harry Edmondson who moves up to the Men’s Trophy Team, meaning Sam Hughes will join the Team GB ranks to fill Harry’s spot in the Junior Trophy Team.

Harry Edmondson has two year’s experience at the ISDE having finished in both France and Argentina and has had a strong year in the Junior category in the FIM EnduroGP World Championship.

Sam Hughes gets the call-up to join the Junior Trophy Team after an impressive year competing in the Youth class in EnduroGP, with his best result at the final round with a fourth place on day one. Consistently placing in the top 10 at various British and Welsh championship events, Sam will no doubt be a strong addition to the Junior Team.

Sam Hughes: “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to represent Great Britain at the ISDE this year! It’s such an iconic event and to be able to wear the GB jersey is amazing, so I’m grateful to the team for asking me to step up. It’s been a great year for me and this has just topped it off.”

Jamie Lewis – ISDE Team GB Team Manager: “Of course, we are gutted about losing Dan. He’s had a strong run of form recently, especially after the GP of Wales when he really impressed everyone, so it’s a shame to see him end his season early.

“Unfortunately, these things happen in our sport. However, I’m delighted to give Sam Hughes the opportunity as he has shown a lot of potential this year. He’s done really well at a lot of the Welsh and World events and will be a great addition to the team. I’m also really grateful to Harry for stepping up to the senior team!”
