It all started with the call of a doctor from Cádiz who was a friend of José Antonio Butrón and has become instrumental in the cause to provide health workers with eye protection glasses in these dramatic times of struggle against the pandemic of the coronavirus.
“I received a call from a doctor [Jesús Fernández, from the Paterna de Rivera hospital] asking me for some glasses to work in the hospital.” Explains Butrón. “I am going to donate as many as I can.”
It was a start of a call for solidarity among Spanish off road community on social networks. A campaign under the hashtag #yodonomisgafas quickly spread and saw other prominent off-road names such as Nani Roma, Josep García, Laia Sanz and Jaume Betriu join in.
“In Barcelona, the Hospital de la Vall d´Hebron needed glasses and my brand, 100%, is going to send material from the warehouse it has in Barcelona,” says Laia Sanz.
