Jonny Walker explains how lowering suspension improves enduro bikes
Jonny Walker explains why fitting adjustable suspension linkage arms, sometimes called lowering kits, are a genuinely good investment and help with the handling of your enduro bike.
JW22 fits the part, tries different sizes and settings in his workshop before testing it out in Spain ahead of roadtripping to the Red Bull Romaniacs (July 23-27). The principle is simple: you stick with the same sag setting (Jonny’s is 40mm on his Beta) but the linkage arms have adjustable inserts which extend the ratio, usually by a few millimetres, to give you a lower seat height without changing suspension settings.
This of course helps people with shorter legs but, as Jonny shows, can also improve the feel of your bike. No good for EXCs mind you!
Spanish Beta importer and specialists Beta Trueba sell the part Jonny has fitted to his bike: www.betatruebaonline.com
It’s not uncommon and we think you’ll find it an accessory available from Beta dealers as well as it featuring in a few manufacturer’s catalogues, for example Sherco: First look: Sherco Factory Adjustable Suspension Linkage
