ACU appoints Tristan Robinson as New Enduro Commission Chairman
The governing body of motorcycle sport in the UK, the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU), has announced Tristan Robinson as its new Enduro Commission Chairman, a boost for the discipline as it builds towards ISDE Wales in 2027.
As a competitor that has ridden internationally and a highly-experienced event organiser, Tristan Robinson brings an important dual perspective to the national governing body of motorcycle sport’s Enduro Commission Chairman role, the ACU says.
The ACU adds Robinson’s experience “will support the work that’s required to strengthen the Enduro discipline from grassroots level upwards, ensuring the sport remains accessible, sustainable and competitive for everyone.”
“I’ve been involved in Enduro for many years, both as a competitor and an organiser, and I see this role as giving something back to the sport I love,” Tristan said. “We need to make sure the sport is there for future generations and continues to thrive nationally.”

A key priority will be closer collaboration with clubs and promoters. The strength of Enduro depends on those delivering events week in, week out, and the Enduro Commission is keen to support their work to continually raise standards and grow.
“Working with clubs and organisers at all levels is fundamental to our shared success and having a coherent national structure,” Tristan said. “We want to make sure we have a strong grassroots base, national series and a discipline that is delivered properly across the UK.”
The Enduro Commission will continue to support the ongoing development of the EnduroGB, British Sprint, and British Extreme championships, as well as the new British Youth Enduro championship which is designed to bring through the next generation of riders and provide a clear pathway into the sport.
Land access also remains a key issue and Tristan has resolved to direct the work that’s required to strengthen relationships with landowners and public bodies to secure sustainable venues for Enduro events. “Without access to land, we don’t have a sport,” he pointed out. “Supporting organisers in this area is essential if we want Enduro to flourish.”
Tristan’s appointment comes as the ACU builds towards hosting the International Six Days Enduro in Wales in 2027. He will look to support the Welsh clubs and organisers in their planning and delivery, ensuring the UK is ready to host one of the sport’s most significant events.
Looking ahead, Tristan is also keen on growing participation and widening the sport’s footprint. This includes encouraging more clubs and promoters to run ACU-permitted events which benefit from first-class support systems and insurance cover.
“We want people to feel part of the discipline’s growth and to join us on the forward journey,” he said. “The Enduro Commission represents a formidable community of riders, organisers and members. We want to be open to any fresh ideas and new ways of doing things.”
ACU Chief Executive, Matthew Edwards-Wear, welcomed Tristan’s appointment. He said: “We’re delighted to appoint Tristan to the Enduro Commission Chairman role and we thank John Collins for filling the position for an interim period.
“Tristan’s experience as a rider and organiser will be hugely important and will enable him to see the Enduro discipline from both perspectives. We know he’ll do an excellent job growing the sport, bringing it up to the same standard across the board, and supporting the work that’s underway to make ISDE Wales an event we can all be proud of.”
