Boyesen Factory Racing clutch and ignition covers don’t just add good looks to your dirt bike, they’re tough enough for off-road racing and riding – Enduro21 takes a closer look.

The truth behind owning and riding certain off-road bikes is some parts are not tough enough. Have you worn through the surface paint of your clutch cover within an hour of your first ride on a new bike for example?

If you can answer no to that question after riding a KTM produced these last few years then you must be riding in slippers. Which is one of the reasons why there’s a place in this world for parts like Boyesen’s Factory clutch and ignition covers.

Combatting the trend for cheaper and lower quality parts for decades, Boyesen covers not only look better but also have a UV resistant powder coat finish on cast aluminium, which makes them strong, lightweight, and durable against weathering and the natural wear and tear from a boots and dirt when you ride.

Fitting is easy

The two covers shown here are fitted to Enduro21’s project Yamaha YZ250, replacing like-for-like the standards parts. As such, they are in the process of being tested by us and we’ll stick a load more hours on them before we start offereing any long-term verdict.

But initial impressions are all good following the easy and straightforward fitment, using the standard bolts and supplied gaskets. Boyesen covers come with asbestos-free gaskets bound with nitrile for a tight seal.

We liked...

Apart from how good they look on the bike, and how tough they have proved to be on our test bikes, we like the “hands-on” approach from the Boyesen R&D department. There’s no getting away from the fact that to test products and hard parts for off-road, you gotta get out there and do the riding – it’s how come we can so readily point to lower quality products, bought for cheap prices online, simply not being good enough.

Tested in the field by professional riders and hobby riders over many decades, Boyesen is a proven and trusted brand at the highest level. Enduro21 fits a product like this to our own test bike knowing it is going to fit correctly, do its job, and last.
