Bassella Race 2025: Star-studded line-up in Spain this weekend
The Bassella Race 2025 is back this weekend, from February 14 to 16, with Josep Garcia heading a star-studded Spanish and international entry list of 1000s.
With over a 1000 confirmed participants, this weekend promises an impressive roster of national and international riders to the Catalan pre-Pyrenees.
Leading the charge is Josep García, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider and EnduroGP World Champion. He will be joined by Sherco factory riders Teodor Kabakchiev and Antoine Magain, as well as Jaume Betriu, Albin Elowson, and Yago Martínez, who will represent the local WP Èric Augé team. Also in the mix are Eddie Karlsson and Jordi Sala, competing on Stark Vargs.
The line-up continues with Dominik Olszowy (Rieju), brothers Sergio and Alejandro Navarro (Husqvarna/GASGAS), TrialGP star Jaime Busto (GASGAS) and the Beta team, featuring Pau Tomàs, Julio Pando, and Bernat Cortès.
With such a high-caliber field, the Bassella Race 2025 cements itself as the first major race of the year, giving teams a chance to test their limits and fine-tune their preparations ahead of the Spanish Enduro Championship.
Trail adventure category brings out the big guns
Some of the biggest names in rally-raids, trail-adventure, and enduro will be lining up for this year's race, including Iván Cervantes (Triumph), Jordi Quer (KTM), Gerard Farrés (Macbor), Javier Vega and Marc Truyols (Kove), Toni Povedano (Suzuki), and Xavier Subirana and Marc Solà (Yamaha), among others.
Additionally, Dakar Rally 2 winner Edgar Canet will be at the event, signing autographs at the KTM tent alongside EnduroGP and E1 World Champion Josep García. This makes the Bassella Race 2025 a unique opportunity for fans to get up close with some of the biggest names in off-road racing.
A Star-Studded Xtreme Race
The BR1 is split in to differnt races and categories across the weekend (see details below) with the Xtreme Race will bringing together top riders from Hard Enduro, SuperEnduro, and Enduro, who will take on a technical and extreme course designed to test their skills to the limit. The race determines the starting order for Sunday’s main event.
Bassella Race 2025: Schedule and Categories
Friday, February 14, is an important day for those who like to plan ahead. From 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, riders can collect their race numbers and complete administrative checks at the Museu de la Moto de Bassella. For those arriving on Saturday, there will be another opportunity to do so from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Saturday: Action Across All Categories
Saturday, February 15, kicks off with the reconnaissance lap, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with the course. The schedule is divided by category:
PRO: 10:00 to 10:15 AM
FRIENDS: 10:15 to 10:45 AM
FANS (non-competitive category): 10:45 to 11:30 AM
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to the Kids, Classics, and Trail categories, starting at 3:00PM, ahead of the one which usually grabs the headlines: the Xtreme Race.
Trail-Adventure: Three Categories in One Race
The Trail category continues to grow in popularity and organisers have taken it a step further by dividing participants into three subcategories within the same race:
Light Trail (single-cylinder bikes from 450cc)
Medium Trail (twin-cylinder bikes up to 900cc)
Maxitrail (twin-cylinder bikes over 900cc)
Sunday: main BR1 race day
Sunday, February 16, sees the legendary BR1 main race. This year, the event returns to its double starting grid format, with the PRO category riders setting off at 9:30 AM to complete two laps of a demanding 60-kilometre course.
Festival to open Spanish enduro season
The Bassella Race is not just about racing; it’s a true festival of enduro and off-road riding. Throughout the weekend, the paddock will be the centre of action, offering a wide variety of activities to enjoy the event to the fullest:
- Commercial area: Leading brands in the industry will showcase their latest models, gear, and accessories.
- Test rides: A unique opportunity to try out the newest bikes on the market.
- Autograph sessions: The top riders will sign autographs and spend time with fans.
- Kids’ circuit: So the youngest ones can also experience the thrill of enduro.
