New AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy invites applications from young, British male and female riders eager to develop their skills, train with elite coaches, and compete on the international stage.

AMPED, in collaboration with the Auto Cycle Union (ACU), has announced the launch of the AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy which they say is an exciting new initiative designed to identify and support the next generation of talented enduro riders in the UK.

The programme will offer a unique opportunity for junior riders, both male and female, to receive expert coaching, participate in high-performance training camps, and gain valuable experience in competitive environments.

Athletes selected will benefit from a structured programme designed to prepare them for top-level events and national and international competition.

A Pathway to Success for Young British Riders

The AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy is open to British riders aged 16 to 21, who demonstrate passion, dedication, and potential in the sport, and (preferably) compete in the British Enduro Championship*.

The programme for 2025 will consist of a Welcome & Assessment Event to evaluate skills and introduce athletes to the academy, numerous Training Camps focused on refining techniques, competition strategy, and mental and physical resilience, with ongoing Coaching, Mentorship & Support available to prepare selected riders for high-level competitions.

*Riders with no prior BEC experience (possibly due to their age), who believe they can demonstrate the required potential to be considered for the academy are invited to apply.

Jonty Edmunds, AMPED: “Many, many people support enduro sport and riders in the UK – organising and running events, managing championships, running teams, fundraising, contributing to the ISDE effort, investing in the sport through sponsorship – through the AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy, Alex and I also want to contribute.

“A junior rider development programme is something we believe many riders could benefit from. With the support of the ACU we’re thrilled to be able to take the first steps towards implementing a structured enduro academy in the UK.”

Alex Snow, Enduro coach: “We have some great young riders in the UK, and we want to support them by providing the tools, training, and support they need to improve and succeed at the highest level. Competing regionally, nationally, or internationally is a huge commitment for any rider and their family, and often training isn’t considered or simply has to be overlooked. This is where we hope to help.

“Put simply, we want to help develop riders that want to be successful. That said, our goal is that the academy is about more than just performance – it's about developing well-rounded athletes who can compete with confidence.”

John Collins, ACU: “Programmes like the AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy are essential for nurturing young talent and supporting riders as they pursue their sporting goals. The ACU is taking a new approach to its support of junior rider development for 2025 and partnering with Jonty and Alex, who will organise and manage the academy with ACU support.

“Both vastly experienced when it comes to their involvement in enduro sport, with the AMPED ACU Junior Enduro Academy they have a clear vision as to what is needed regards junior enduro rider development, which the ACU fully supports. The ACU has every confidence that selected riders will both benefit from and enjoy being a part of the academy and is looking forward to seeing the development of the next generation of British enduro competitors.”
