2025 FIM EnduroGP World Championship results from the GP of Italy in Darfo Boario Terme where home hero, GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona, puts one over his rivals Josep Garcia and Zach Pichon with a narrow victory in the Friday Super Test.
EnduroGP of Italy Super Test in a nutshell:
- Light rain made conditions tricky for riders tackling the Friday Super Test in Darfo Boario Terme. In classic Italian style it felt like we were in the backyards and public spaces of the town itself, which always amazes and the normality of motorsport as part of daily life is to be applauded.
- The Youth class were first on track as world championship riders tackled the technical and narrow course in reverse championship order.
- French youngster Valentin Mersin made a name for himself with a fast time early which stood as fastest ahead of Frasier Lampkin for a long time. The championship contenders hit the track last and it was Mersin’s compatriot Romain Dagna who clocked the fastest overall with a 1:36.04, almost 2s faster.
- The light 125s looked like the best option on this course and no single rider through the most populated class in the world championship, the Juniors (on larger capacity machines) went faster.
- Title contender Leo Joyon came close with a 1:36.12 for fastest time in the Juniors.
- The Italian duo of Thomas Oldrati, racing his last World Enduro Championship race, and Giacomo Redondi were the first of the senior riders on track as we headed for a conclusion in failing light.
- Finally, Dominik Olszowy beat that Youth time with a 1:35 as the thick and fast action kicked in at the sharp end of the running order.
- A small uphill covered in rocks caught a few riders out with Jeremy Sydow perhaps the rider making the biggest meal of it. The test was littered with logs and they were polished!
- Theo Espinasse has woken up these last couple of rounds and clocked in with a chart topping time as the best in the world hit the track to conclude the night.
- It wasn’t long before his French colleague, Zach Pichon, blitzed an unbelievable 1:32.47. It was the first of three times well-clear of anything any other rider.
- Last of all, Andrea Verona and Josep Garcia matched the lines and times of Pichon with all three eventually clocking in fractions of a second apart. It was the GASGAS rider and home hero Verona who wins the Italian Super Test, his second of the season, with a 1:32.36, which was a tiny 0.06 faster than Garcia in second and Pichon a further five one hundredths back in third. These guys are on it and let’s hope the weekend pans out as competitive as tonight.
