2025 Spanish Hard Enduro Championship: Mario Roman unstoppable in Oviedo
Sherco Xtrem Racing Team’s Mario Roman takes double race win ahead of championship leader Francesc Moret in Oviedo, round two of the Spanish Hard Enduro series – Sandra Gomez beats nearly 100 competitors for Cup race win.
Oviedo was the epicenter of Spanish national hard enduro for the second round of 2025. More than 130 riders took on the spectacular course designed by the Piloña Moto Club, which tested everyone... except one: Mario Roman.
The new competition format, more intense than ever, kicked off on Saturday with a flying lap that defined the starting grid, followed by the first race of the weekend and the now customary head-to-head shootout before the amin race on Sunday. The points total from both races then determined the overall winner. And there was no doubt: Mario Roman was the strongest from start to finish.
The Sherco rider arrived in top form a couple of weeks after the Castagn'Hard in France and made it clear from practice, setting the fastest lap time ahead of Alberto Aramburu (GASGAS) and SuperEnduro Youth World Champion Ramon Godino (Beta Trueba).
In Saturday’s race, Román set a relentless pace throughout the two-hour competition. Francesc Moret (KTM) and Peru Iraizola (Beta Trueba) followed, while Eric Miguel and Carlos Rivero completed the top five.
In the afternoon, the head-to-head race saw Mario once again prevailed in the decisive duel against Moret while Raúl Guimerá (Sherco) won the battle against Iraizola for third.
On Sunday, the story was the same. Roman again dominated with an iron fist in a three-hour race, in which only he and Moret were able to complete six laps. Carlos Rivero, Eric Miguel, and Peru Iraizola finished within one lap of each other, completing the day’s top five.
Francesc Moret maintains the championship lead thanks to competing all rounds. ‘Moretti’, riding a KTM from the FB Factory Racing Team this year, leads the standings with 78 points, followed by Éric Miguel with 62 and Peru Iraizola with 44. Roman, absent from the first round in Jarvisland, is fourth with 42, closely followed by Marc Font with 41.
In Junior Elite, Félix Jan Bahker (Beta Trueba) was the fastest, beating Lenny Geretzky (Sherco) in a close duel between promising Spanish hard enduro riders.
And in the Cup, Sandra Gómez (Beta Trueba) once again demonstrated why she is one of the greatest off-road riders. She was the fastest in the morning race against nearly 100 riders, taking the overall victory, and of course, also in the Women’s category, in which she was the only participant.
