Rocky Mountain Mountaineer GNCC: Davis stretches points lead with fourth win
Grant Davis extended his GNCC overall points advantage with a commanding victory at the Mountaineer GNCC in West Virginia, his fourth win of the season, as Jordan Ashburn and Nick DeFeo completed the overall podium.
The Summit Bechtel Reserve once again proved a punishing venue, combining technical woods and rugged hills for round 11 of the Progressive Grand National Cross Country Series.
Davis (FMF KTM Factory Racing Landers) was untouchable in XC2 and overall, setting the pace early and never faltering as he stretched his advantage to 20 points in the GNCC overall and 50 in the XC2 standings. Ashburn (Flatrock Motorclub GASGAS) rode smart to claim the XC1 win and second overall, with Kawasaki’s DeFeo rounding out the top three after a strong ride at the sharp end.
Ben Kelley (FMF KTM) had to recover from a poor start but still pushed into fourth overall and second in XC1, securing the XC1 National Championship on points and staying in the overall title fight. Josh Strang (Beta) kept it consistent for third in XC1, while Brody Johnson (Rocket Racing GASGAS) was third in XC2 and sixth overall.
While Steward Baylor went out with anotehr mechanical, Kailub Russell (Yamaha) made a solid return in seventh, Michael Witkowski (Honda) took eighth and the holeshot award, Craig Delong (Husqvarna) was ninth, and Ryder Lafferty (Beta) rounded out the top 10.
Jonathan Johnson (Bonecutter Off-Road GASGAS) grabbed the XC3 win after securing the holeshot, though second place for James Jenkins (Marionville Powersports) was enough to clinch the 2025 XC3 National Championship. Raley Messer (Beta) completed the podium.
Top Amateur honours went to Cooper Jones (250 A) with 14th overall, ahead of Lane Whitmer and Ryan Amancio.

Richards returns
The WXC battle saw Brandy Richards (FMF KTM) return to winning form after injury, outpacing early leader Rachael Archer (Kawasaki). Danielle McDonald (Yamaha) fought through to third after a late pass on Korie Steede (Husqvarna), with Shelby Turner (Enduro Engineering) in fifth.
Mountaineer GNCC AM race results (top 20):

In the Youth race, Cooper Duff (YXC1) took the overall after a race-long duel with Travis Lentz, with Phillip Arnold topping YXC2 and taking third overall. Nash Peerson was third in YXC1, while Ace Tokar and Bentley Saxon completed the YXC2 podium.
Saturday’s Micro Bike racing saw Pittsburgh’s Josh Erny take his first overall and MXC1 victory, ahead of Kane Morrison and Cade Propst. Kash Brummage won MXC2, with further class wins for Carson Zink, Jackson Reinhardt, Coy Hill, Bentley Ham, Addison Richmond, Nathan Zhang, Tucker Rodeheaver and Jamison Dodson.
The AMSOIL Moto Hero award went to Shawn Girard of St. Marys, WV, a US Army veteran and active firefighter.
The GNCC Series continues 10–12 October in Millfield, Ohio, with the Wiseco John Penton GNCC, round nine of the eMTB National Championship.
