2021 ISDE: Day 2 results – Garcia turns up the wick, Italy stay in front

International Six Days Enduro results feed from day two in Italy which saw Josep Garcia and Brandy Richards take an impressive scratch wins and Italy’s World and Junior Trophy teams continue to lead.
Day 2 in a nutshell:
- Before the start of day two, Josep Garcia says he told the Spanish team he was going to “push harder” today. Judging by the time sheets – four of the six tests won and a scratch win of almost half a minute on the day – he was true to his word.
- Matteo Pavoni and Andrea Verona were the only two riders to get a look in with single test wins in the afternoon but by then it was too late, Garcia was gone.
- Pavoni and Verona headed another solid team performance for the Italian colours though and they remain in charge of the Junior and World trophy standings – it already looks ominous.
- The net result is Italy now have a 1:22.18 time advantage overall heading into day three ahead of Spain who’s collective performance pulled them over one minute clear of Team USA third.
- Individually it was Garcia’s day with Andrea Verona 48 seconds behind in P2 and Team Sweden’s Mikael Persson impressive again with third scratch, 47 seconds back.
- Taylor Robert upped his game with fourth scratch but his teammates are down the order behind a sea of Italians – 13th, 15th and 20th respectively for Layne Michael, Johnny Girroir and Ryan Sipes…
- It’s a similar story for Italy in the Junior Trophy contest. A 1:49 margin now over Team USA with France 2:45 behind the leaders.
- Brandy Richards was in another league in the Women’s class again. She finished with a 1:48 advantage scratch, helping Team USA’s Women to a 5:47 lead overall. Yes, that much already.
- Consistency in the squad for the Team GB Women means they are 28 seconds ahead of Spain in what is proving to be the contest of the ISDE at the moment – Mireia Badia and Jane Daniels in particular are in a titanic scrap behind Richards.
