2026 World Rally-Raid Championship round two, BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal, stage two results are topped by Monster Energy Honda Rally Team HRC’s Tosha Schareina – Daniel Sanders retains overall lead.

Tosha Schareina stole the second stage of the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal today as it headed to Badajoz, in his home country of Spain. The Monster Energy Honda HRC rider overtook the long-time leader, Bruno Santos (BS — Frutas Patrícia Pilar), in the dying moments of the 548 km stage (including 377 km against the clock), snatching victory by just two seconds. It was one of the closest-run specials in the history of the W2RC.

Schareina: “At the beginning it rained so much, we had so many puddles and it wasn’t easy. It was so fast at the start and I wasn’t comfortable, but from the middle to the end of the stage I felt better on my bike. During the second part in Spain the sun was shining, all the crowds were pushing us on which was really good. Finally a stage win! We will race again in Spain tomorrow which is extra motivation.”

The Portuguese Santos had an exceptional ride for P2 today, especially if you keep in mind that he is riding malle-moto style so unassisted.

Rally2 riders who have managed to beat the RallyGP elite for the stage win are few and far between. Only Danilo Petrucci, Michael Docherty and Bradley Cox have pulled it off in almost five years of the W2RC.

Honda’s Adrien Van Beveren rounded out the podium at 47 seconds ahead of the overall race leader, Daniel Sanders (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). Sanders came in fourth ahead of teammate Edgar Canet completing the top five but over two minutes adrift of the winner.

The Australian Sanders opened the course from flag to flag having taken stage one, but was able to limit the damage and retains the overall lead ahead of Schareina (+1′18″) and VBA (+2′17″), both of whose tracks Sanders will be following tomorrow (there is no bonus time awarded in this rally).

Behind them and seemingly already handing in the towel, riders like Ricky Brabec, Ross Branch and Dakar winner Luciano Benavides are already either approaching or busting over 10 minutes down on the leader. In these conditions that is huge after only two days racing…and slightly baffling.

Santos is in command of the Rally2 class, where the Honda factory rider Martim Ventura made it a Portuguese one-two (+4′35″). And their compatriot Gonçalo Amaral (Wingmotor) remains unbeaten in Rally3.
