Taddy Blazusiak Quits Stark Future Racing
Taddy Blazusiak has announced he will no longer race the Stark Varg in SuperEnduro with immediate effect – is this retirement for the enduro legend?
Short, sharp and straight to the point, enduro legend Taddy Blazusiak has made an official statement calling halt on his time racing for the Stark Future team:
“I inform that as of 15.01.2025 I unilaterally terminate the contract with Stark Future company and I refuse to race in the next races.
“I also want to express my apologies for the event happened at German GP, which was not my intention and was caused by the unpredictable reaction of the motorcycle.”
The ‘next races’ are the 2025 SuperEnduro World Championship which Taddy was contracted to race for Stark Future. The third round being this weekend in Romania.
The apology for the event which happened was a bit of a dust up with Tim Apolle (no stranger to a bit of on-track controversy) where the German basically got ridden into by Taddy. There were some “strong exchanges” in the paddock afterwards and it is this which Taddy is apologising for.
At time of writing Stark Future has made no statement but no doubt they, like a few of us, knew something was coming.
Some background on all this...
There can be no doubt Taddy has been dealt a few tough blows since making the bold decision to sign for Stark Future two years ago. It was a shock move but the plan was always to race SuperEnduro and EnduroCross. “I’m a racer” he told Enduro21 at the time, “I’m here to race.”
Apart from getting a huge amount of disrespectful flack on social media, the chief problem was the FIM had other ideas about the programme to race the Stark Varg in their championships.
The plan was shut down a matter of hours before the first round of the 2024 SuperEnduro season in France.
Fast forward through a year of development in which Taddy has played role in delivering the Stark Varg EX enduro model and we arrive at the 2025 SuperEnduro season. Finally the FIM allowed the Vargs on track but with some severe restrictions on power and additional weight which Taddy has been understandably vocal about in what is supposedly open class racing.
The first time we saw Blazusiak on track in anger on the Varg was the Indoor Enduro of Champions where he looked in great form taking second place overall behind Jonny Walker.
But with the FIM adding restrictions to the bikes in the world championship, Taddy hasn’t been close to replicating that result. That culminated in an exit from the German GP two weeks ago when he didn’t make it to the main event races.
It is worth pointing out that Taddy’s former teammate Eddie Karlsson is in the same boat but is making the best of the job, riding with the restrictions and improving with each round.
The end?
It’s fair to say Taddy hasn’t been himself this season on the bike in the two SuperEnduro events. With lap times and results below the standard we and no doubt he expected, general frustrations and that life-changing injury, it is not a surprise to see this statement.
We also do not know if this is the end and retirement for Taddy. We hope not but do know that after his terrible and serious injuries sustained while training last year, he was questioning if it was all worth it any longer. The poor results and bust-up in Germany seems to have been the straw which broke the camel’s back.
