USA ISDE team getting set for Spain ‘24 with US Sprint Enduro “World Championship”
Team USA Trophy riders get set for ISDE 2024 with Sprint Enduro World Championship with FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Johnny Girroir claiming the win ahead of Josh Toth and Cody Barnes.
An important part of the United States team’s ISDE training camp bringing riders, bikes and the change in mentality to taped tests makes the annual Sprint Enduro World Championship at Harleywood Farm in Bristol, Virginia key in their preparation.
24 tests split between a series of Cross Tests and Enduro Tests aim to set the tone mindset for when the U.S. ISDE Team travels to Galicia, Spain, this October.
The man of the moment and indeed past few seasons in US Sprint Enduro, Johnny Girroir, took the overall and Pro 1 Class aboard his KTM 350 XC-F in a total time of 2:49:00.890 ahead of Josh Toth and Cody Barnes.
Taking a lot from the weekend that he will be able to apply to the ISDE this year, Johnny Girroir: “I didn’t make many mistakes on Saturday and rode smoothly. A couple of tests, they were getting a little beat up and little fresh silt dust berms started developing, but, yeah, it was a good weekend and these tires are working pretty well in this dry, dusty stuff, so I’m looking forward to the Six Days. This was a great opportunity to get back to the ISDE format. I made a couple of mistakes on Monday, but it got really loose and dusty out there. I was feeling good out in the field, laying it down out there, so it was a good weekend.”
Another factory KTM rider having a standout year is Grant Davis but had to settle for second place in the Pro 2 Class this weekend behind a flying Jason Tino with Cooper Jones completing that podium.
ISDE Women’s Trophy rider take note…
If any of the female ISDE teams are taking notice here we wouldn’t cut back on the training just yet as the Women’s World Trophy Team look to be coming back for more! Brandy Richards topped the Pro Women classification at the Sprint Enduro World Championship ahead of Korie Steede and Rachel Gutish.
Brandy Richards: “The Cross Test and the Enduro Test were super grippy at first. Some spots were a little slick with the loose grass, but with the Six Days tires it didn't seem like much of a difference. In the first Enduro Test on Sunday I got lost and dropped a minute there, so after that, I was just kind of being consistent in making up time. The Enduro Test is like a perfect Six Days test because it's really silty, but it's not super tight or slow – it's a good mix of everything. Same with the Cross Test, with all the off-cambers and some high-speed stuff.”
