Suzuki GB announce new off-road training centre in Wales
Suzuki GB announce SR75 Suzuki Off-Road Experience Centre in Wales for riders of all levels and ability to learn on, including the V-Strom 800DE and the V-Strom 1050DE, as well as the new DR-Z4S.
Based near the Monster Mountain off-road and motocross track above Merthyr Tydfill, the SR75 Suzuki Off-Road Experience Centre has access to over 300 acres of trails of varying complexity, from wide, flat, shale fire roads to more technical, single-track trails.
Run by industry legend, Geoff Walker, instruction will focus on everything from the basics of body positioning and throttle control and braking to more advanced skills and how to tackle more challenging terrain.
Smaller groups – personal training
Instead of large groups of riders, the SR75 Suzuki Off-Road Experience Centre will instead focus on more intimate group sizes and tailored instruction, with a ratio of no more than three riders to one instructor and no more than six riders in a group in total.
The training team hope this means riders will reap the full benefits of their day’s riding experience with their instructors, instead of simply being part of a large group ride-out.
Chief instructor Walker boasts over 30 years of experience when it comes to teaching people how to ride off-road, and he is joined by a team of skilled instructors. Geoff Walker added, “I have a long association with the Suzuki brand, formed initially in the world of motocross and supercross racing, but that’s grown over the years and we’ve since done a lot of work with the V-Strom range, including some rallies, and the launch of this school felt like a natural next step.
“As well as working for and running my own race team over 30 years or more, my background is also in riding instruction; I don’t think there are many feelings as good as helping and seeing people learn and develop their riding skills. With the DR-Z4S through to the 800DE and 1050DE V-Stroms, there’s a bike for everyone’s level of ability, and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Suzuki GB motorcycle marketing manager, Jak Tyrrell, said, “We’re pleased to be launching a new Suzuki off-road training school, and we’re delighted to be doing so in conjunction with Geoff Walker and the SR75 team.
“As well as experience, Geoff also brings an incredible amount of care, dedication, and professionalism to the centre. It’s an exciting time and we can’t wait to see riders of all levels of ability learning to ride with more confidence off-road on Suzuki products next year.”
Price for a full day’s instruction – including the hire of a V-Strom or DR-Z4S and all fuel and maintenance, refreshments, including teas, coffees, water, and snacks – starts at £300 per person.
