Honda RedMoto World Enduro Team will make their big for victory this weekend when the opening round of the 2017 FIM EnduroGP World Championship gets underway in Finland.

The wait is finally over: this weekend Giacomo Redondi, Davide Guarneri and Davide Soreca will face the 82nd edition of Päijänteen Ympäriajo, the enduro race around Lake Päijänne, in Finland.

This will be the first round of the Enduro World Championship, with the debut of the new EnduroGP and Enduro2 class, besides EJ "Under 23" and EY "Under 21" 125 2T class.

The new season promises hard fought, because EnduroGP class will group 4 stroke and 2 stroke bikes over 250cc, while in Enduro2 class there will be 4 stroke and 2 stroke bike up to 250cc.

World Champion Giacomo Redondi had a great start to the season in the Italian Championship and is ready to face the World Championship thanks to a good training in the winter.

The race in Finland will be tough: the riders will race with studded tyres and Redondi will race in the new EnduroGP with the new Honda-RedMoto CRF 450RX Enduro with electric start.

The Grand Prix of Finland will be Davide Guarneri’s debut in Enduro2 with the Honda-RedMoto 250R Enduro. In the first two round of the Italian Championship Guarneri had a great run and the goal is to improve the performance and be among the leaders.

First in the ranking of the EJ Italian Championship, Davide Soreca confirmed his potential, getting closer to the times of the best riders in the overall classification.

The Finland GP will be a rally-Raid type event about 800 km long. Riders start on Saturday from Vierumäki, with arrival on Sunday near Helsinki Vantaa. Saturday's route will be about 400 km long with 15 special tests — about 12 hours of racing — and on Sunday riders will race other 400 km with 11 tests — 8 hours of racing.

“After the race in Sicily we immediately left for Finland to increase our feeling with the studded tires. In the Päitsi race many Finnish riders will shine in the hard-fought EnduroGP class: our competitors will be fierce and it won’t be easy to stay at the top. I’m ready to face this new World Championship. In the tests in late January in Finland and in these two weeks we have identified different good set-up. We have the right stuff to rule the game!"

“Although the aim of each rider is to win, I’m aware of being a novice in Enduro2 with my Honda-RedMoto CRF 250R Enduro. So I will face the season getting my hopes up. After a good performance in the Italian Championship, a realistic objective would be the top five although I'd like to get on the podium. I'll give my best but most importantly it's the great experience of the team and the technicians helping me to get many points as possible."

“These two weeks of training in Finland were very interesting: every day we found different climatic conditions and we have the opportunity to get feeling with studded tires. The results are positive, but we should be wary of making mistakes. I'm confident in success."

Carlo Curci: Manager Honda RedMoto World Enduro Team

"Our three riders made a great job during the ten days spent in Finland and in the tests in the previous weeks. We have everything we need to be competitive. Redondi shone at the first two rounds of the Italian Championship. Guarneri has grown a lot and now has the right mix of experience to get good results. We expect to see Soreca constantly in the top positions. We’ve a great team with a lot of experience and all of us are motivated for a new World Championship season with many satisfactions."
