First look: 2026 KTM SX and SX-F Motocross Models – All you need to know
Back in production and arriving in dealers from August, KTM announce the 2026 SX and SX-F motocross model range – 50, 65 and 85cc models gets the updates including a factory fiddy edition.
On the back of an announcement this week that production is back in full swing and with the off-road range first on the schedule, KTM has announced the 2026 KTM SX range with a total of 10 models from the 50 SX to the 450 SX-F.
2026 KTM SX range highlights:
- 2026 in-mould graphics and colour scheme with “greater orange emphasis”, purple details, black seat and black frame
- Tweaked radiator closure for easier access
- Fuel injection units have a new protector cap for the fuel link quick lock system that will beef-up durability and assist with maintenance
- Two-strokes have an improved wiring harness routing, and new fixing points to improve durability
- KTM Sportminicycles (50cc to 85cc models) have new upgrades, including improved WP XACT suspension, updated clutch components, and refined durability across the board
- Factory Edition 50 SX with Red Bull KTM race team graphics
So not much has changed for the 2026 model year in the KTM MX range but, to be honest, we expected that. They have a strong record in racing which has persisted despite the financial crisis and you have to expect production model development got put down the list of priorities for a while there.
Living and breathing by their race programme, KTM SX and KTM SX-Fs remain the first port of call for us in the wider off-road world as we look to what might come next.
And it is not a lot in the full size line-up at least which is distinguished by a change to the orange colours and graphics with a return of purple on the tank spoilers and fork guards. The powder-coated black frame and matching black seat returns too.
KTM say they tweaked the radiator closure to be more standardised and for easier access on all KTM SX models. Some people had issue with the update a couple of years ago and they have improved the design it seems.
For those who’ve suffered with fuel issues following re-connecting the hose under the tank, KTM also says all fuel injection units have a new protector cap for the fuel link quick lock system which is stronger and makes it less likely to connect it improperly.
The two-strokes also have an improved wiring harness routing, KTM adds, with adjustments to its fixing points to help against mud and water.
2026 50/65 & 85 models
Fun or first place? KTM asks of the kids eyeing-up the smaller wheel and capacity models. The 2026 KTM 50 SX and KTM 65 SX have new WP XACT AER front fork with a renewed air cartridge and sealing design for better damping, control and overall performance.
The triple clamps for the KTM 50 SX, KTM 65 SX and KTM 85 SX now all have the same 17mm wrench size and closed screw nut format like the full size SXs to add a further barrier against dirt and water intrusion.
The throttle cable assembly is less prone to kinking and deformation thanks to a new cap and the radiator closure has also been tweaked like the bigger bikes and for easier access.
65 SX upgrades
The 2026 KTM 65 SX has an overhauled clutch fixation “system”, KTM say, with a more durable pre-coating and increased torque setting.
There’s also a new laser-cut exhaust flange gasket and exhaust valve ventilation from the cylinder, redesigned in Austria to be more reliable.
New brake lever on the 85
The KTM 85 SX also has a new rear brake lever with two adjustment options for length to the brake tip. This will naturally help in terms of set-up for a wider range of rider sizes who are making the transition from the KTM 65 SX to the bigger 85 SX.
Factory Fiddy
The 50 SX Factory Edition is littered (or lit up?) with KTM PowerParts components and factory team replica livery helping any kid’s dream of being a Red Bull KTM Factory Racing stars. Sadly the images to support the new models doesn’t’ include an
