First look: 2026 Triumph TF 450-X
Triumph Motorcycles add a new TF 450-X motocross model to its 2026 off-road with clutch, chassis and gearbox upgrades plus new graphics and class-leading power figures.
Triumph Motorcycles has announced the 2026 TF 450-X, finally arriving on the back of last year’s TF 450-RC special edition, Triumph’s debut in the 450 motocross world. It’s a new moto model to stand alongside the TF 250-X and Enduro ‘E’ 250 and 450 models already out there.
A new Exedy clutch hub is high up the billing from Triumph as they announce this new 450. Featuring lubrication ports to boost durability and torque capacity in extreme racing conditions, plus a Belleville Clutch Spring, it’s a specific part to focus on at the top of the new model information but no doubt an offensive is going on in the light of some issues as Triumph strive to show strength and reliability on their still virgin off-road motorcycles.
There’s plenty to sink your teeth into here, albeit it for a motocross bike on Enduro21. We tested the TF 250-E and TF 450-E previously, plus recently featured details about the cross-country range.

First look: Triumph TF 250-C & TF 450-C Cross-Country models
Race-bred
“Race-bred for relentless torque”, Triumph’s 450 motor is a strong one with maximum claimed power of 62.4 PS at 9,500 rpm and 49.9Nm @7000rpm of torque.
Slotted in a chassis weighing just over 108kg, the power-to-weight ratio is very competitive – although we add the caveat these are always claimed figures from manufacturers.
Standard components on the TF 450-X include Brembo brakes, KYB suspension, Pro Taper bars, D.I.D wheels, plus electronics including launch control, traction control, quickshifter, and dual engine maps.
The engine mapping carries over from the RC edition, improving throttle response and boosting low-end torque they say, giving riders more control out of corners and stronger starts.
450 motor facts
Designed for competition, the engine features a forged König aluminium piston which Triumph say is strong and allows high-rev durability. Del West titanium valves help those high RPMs and improve throttle response, while DLC-coated rockers and cams reduce friction, “enhancing durability and smooth performance at high loads”. Magnesium engine covers are race-developed for strength, cooling, and easy maintenance.
A Dell'Orto 44mm throttle body and Keihin injector are benchmark we would say plus the airbox and silencer, first seen on the TF 450- RC edition, claims it improves airflow and throttle response while meeting FIM and AMA race sound regulations.
Stronger clutch
The Exedy clutch hub has been upgraded, increasing torque capacity, making smoother engagement and consistent performance. It is durable and race-ready they say, housed in a steel clutch basket and paired with Brembo hydraulics and the Belleville Clutch Spring (diaphragm) offers good feel. A quickshifter is also fitted as standard for clutchless upshifts from second to fifth gear.
Brembo brakes with Galfer discs are also benchmark for any off-road we would say as are D.I.D DirtStar 7000-series aluminium rims which come fitted with Pirelli MX32 mid-soft terrain tyres. An optional disc guard is available for added protection.
Chassis and Handling
The TF 450-X uses Triumph’s home-grown aluminium spine frame — an ultra-light, twin-cradle design that balances stiffness and flex for confident handling. The hydroformed swingarm and race-developed linkage system reduce weight while aiding grip and traction, “contributing to excellent rear grip and suspension feel”.
The KYB settings are also carried over from the RC edition, developed to improve mid-stroke control, chassis balance, and cornering stability. Racing input helped the KYB setup arrive dialled in for big hits and technical rhythm sections, they say.
The 48mm KYB AOS coil spring forks and three-way adjustable piggyback shock are tuned for “consistent damping, controlled landings and enhanced front end feel across a wide range of terrain”.
The TF 450-X also carries Neken yokes, ProTaper ACF carbon core handlebars, and ODI lock-on grips, D.I.D 520 SDH chain and JT lightweight sprockets co-developed for further mass improvements.
Electronic control
The electronics package includes launch control, traction control and dual engine maps which you can switch between via handlebar controls or use the optional MX Tune Pro app. The app also unlocks up to 10 additional engine maps when paired with the Accessory Engine Management Unit.
A sensor dashboard provides live engine data, diagnostics, and service alerts, with an hour meter logging engine run-time.
The Athena ECU controls ignition, launch, traction, and map settings and is integrated with GET Power Assist for seamless traction and launch control.
Performance accessories
In addition to the specification already listed as standard, Triumph has partnered with brands for a dedicated range of performance accessories.

• XTrig hole shot device
• Athena LC-GPA launch control module with rider-selectable enhanced traction control and launch control settings and LED engine speed indicator
