First look: Triumph Racing TF 250-X Enduro breaks cover – Jonny Walker’s race bike
First look at the official Triumph TF 250-X Enduro model – Jonny Walker and Triumph Racing Enduro Team reveal new model at round one of the 2025 SuperEnduro World Championship.
Over the course of 2024 Enduro21 has taken a closer look at various versions of the new Triumph 250 bikes but they have all been essentially the motocross bike. Until now.
Finally, the enduro bike breaks cover as Jonny Walker takes on the 2025 SuperEnduro World Championship round one in Gliwice, Poland with the homologated bike with lights on.
EX or 250-X Enduro
Walker has been riding the pre-production enduro bike for a while now but with the X model plastics as he raced the 2024 AMA EnduroCross series. Finishing that series early, Walker headed back to Europe to prep for SuperEnduro and the world championship which is the priority for Triumph Racing.
Rolling out the Triumph Racing van in Gliwice, Poland, this is our first glimpse of what the enduro model will look like. We’re speculating the 250 EX or 250-X Enduro, no official model denomination is out there yet, and it is possible the headlight design could change also as this was also pre-production.
Jonny’s Pro bike – a closer look
Essentially it is a standard bike with no engine changes and a six-speed gearbox with the rumour is the actual proddy bike will make an appearance sometime in Spring, 2025.
The first two rounds of EnduroCross, plus training leading up to the SuperEnduro season, has focused on suspension and set-up with his new mechanic, Frenchman Jean Andoche – his first full-time factory mechanic for three years.
Standard graphics run across the plastics as per official Triumph Racing colours. A Guts seat cover is not standard however and Jonny explains he runs the seat a bit taller than stock, to suit his height.
The grippy rubbers on the side frame are there to help Jonny grip the frame with his legs which he says is more important indoors where the obstacles come fast and furious.
Titanium bolts reduce weight
Bruni has been busy since they returned to Europe after the EnduroCross outings, replacing many of the standard steal bolts around the engine and frame with titanium ones across the bike.
The reason is to save as much weight as possible bearing in mind Jonny has a slight power disadvantage on the 250 4T compared to, say Billy Bolt on a 350.
Sitting on the Renthal handlebars is one of two starter buttons onboard: one on the bars as normal plus a neat extra one down the right side of the headstock in case the bars-mounted one gets busted.
K-Tech suspension
The factory bike slightly unusually breaks away from the standard parts supplier for the suspension with Walker running K-Tech suspension in the KYB outer units.
A lot of the process of setting the bike up for Jonny has been about finding the right balance with the suspension and having K-Tech (based in the UK but also established in the US) tweak settings to suit the peculiar brutality of indoor enduro.
The X-Trig triple clamps are interesting, Jonny says, because he hadn’t been using any in previous seasons (with the Beta). Jonny says he noticed the difference on the Triumph with the X-Trig clamps offering more flexibility and feel and less tucking of the front wheel in turns.
Around the rest of the bike you’ll spot details like the Hinson clutch cover, stronger than standard, Raptor Titanium footpegs are 5mm down and 5mm back, Akrapovic full exhaust system is an official Triumph part (a different shape to their motocross header pipe so enduro-pec we believe), brake discs are Galfer, a sponsor carried over from Jonny’s “privateer” Beta and he continues to use the solid rear disc – both front and back are standard dimensions.
Apart from Michelin medium tyres and mousses, that’s about it for Jonny’s bike. More news on the production model when we get it.
