2025 SuperEnduro Results: Billy Bolt overcomes determined Olszowy for Rnd 1 win
2025 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship round one results from Gliwice, Poland where home hero Dominik Olszowy put it to the man but there was no stopping Billy Bolt taking the win – Jonny Walker salvages third after final moto disaster.
SuperEnduro Rnd 1, Poland, in a nutshell:
- If night one of the indoor enduro show is anything to go by we’re in for a cracker of a 2025 SuperEnduro season. Great atmosphere as always in Poland, superb racing across the classes, a mix of bikes, nationalities, ages and plenty of drama. It had it all.
- The Prestige class is so stacked with talent this year that the first race of the ‘night’ happened in the afternoon with riders like Ash Brightmore, Toby Martyn, Harry Edmondson and Alfredo Gomez going through a last chance qualifying race before timed practice after eventually whittled down the 14 qualified riders.
- Living on lines no-one else seems to hit, and living a little dangerously with at least one big crash in practice, Billy Bolt went fastest as you might expect. The reigning champ was the only rider under 40 seconds and a full two seconds faster than anyone with his fastest outright lap time. Jonny Walker turned it up for Superpole to claim two vital points ahead of and Eddie Karlsson on the Stark third.
- True to form Billy put on a masterclass in moto one, pulling a lead from the start and then kept it smooth for the win.
- Behind him it was much more exciting as Walker had to fend off a hard-charging Olszowy with a fight between Cooper Abbott, Eddie Karlsson both Brightmore brothers for fourth through seventh a highlight.
- Race two couldn’t have been more dramatic as Olszowy grabbed an early lead with Bolt working his way through to the home hero’s rear fender after a couple of laps. But mistakes came all over the track from the champion and uncharacteristically the tables were turned. The Polish rider went on to record his first win ahead of Walker and Ash Brightmore claiming a maiden third.
- Brow wiped and after a quick cool down, Bolt was in determined mood to restore the order for the win in moto three. “I made it really difficult for myself in the second moto, I need to learn to be more patient when I have the speed and when you go off the track three times, you make it hard for yourself. But I’m happy with how I turned it around.” Said Billy who makes the perfect start to 2025.
- Dominik Olszowy was good for his results tonight, proving he’s the Polish hero these days with second overall and his best-ever result – and for Rieju.
- Meanwhile behind him a mistake by Walker mid-third moto saw his chain come off and it took him an absolute age to put it back on. Due to the rules Jonny was struggling trackside without assistance and though he finished (he had to for a vital three points) it put him narrowly third overall, robbing Ash Brightmore of the podium by one point. Cooper Abbott completed the top five on a stock Sherco.
- Milan Schmuser rode away from chaos in moto one of the Junior races but it didn’t last long as the German crashed out. Rieju’s new youngster Alex Puey was already looking fastest and took over to claim a controlled win ahead of Sherco UK’s Toby Shaw and Marc Serra.
- Shaw took an early lead in the reverse grid moto two and sailed away while his rivals tripped over themselves and race one winner Puey could only manage eighth – a result which would later cost the Spaniard the overall.
- Schmuser was again the early race leader in the final moto with Puey back on his tail and they went on to take a one-two with young Henry Strauss third. The results made the overall complicated but despite P7 in the final moto, Sherco UK’s Toby Shaw took the overall by one point from Puey and fellow Spaniard Marc Fernandez.
- The new Youth World Cup class for 18 and under riders provided some awesome racing with Ramon Godino in the new AG racing Beta team sailing away with two classy wins ahead of 14-year-old Conner Watson and Michal Laska completing the overall podium.
- The European class was dominated by former Prestige class rider, Norbert Zsigovits who led start to finish in both races.
