Enduro21 takes a closer look at the first Acerbis Airstrike FIM Racing #2 off-road helmet with FIM homologation being used in the EnduroGP World Championship, MXGP and the Dakar Rally.

From 2026, helmets certified to the FRHPhe-02 (FIM Racing Homologation Programme for Helmets which Enduro21 covered in detail) standard will be mandatory for international off-road motorcycle competition. In response to the new rules, Acerbis has developed the Airstrike FIM Racing #2.

It is the first Acerbis off-road helmet to meet the latest FIM requirements and represents an important step for the Italian manufacturer as regulations tighten across enduro, motocross and rally racing.

The Airstrike FIM Racing #2 is already in competition use and is being worn by Tosha Schareina with the Monster Energy Honda HRC team at the Dakar Rally.

Low weight

Based on the carbon fibre Airstrike-C platform, the Airstrike FIM Racing #2 motocross and enduro helmet sits at the top of the Acerbis off-road helmet range.

Despite the stricter homologation standards, the helmet weighs 1,250 grams in size M, keeping weight down as a priority for Acerbis. It is produced in two outer shell sizes and two inner shell sizes to help achieve a comfortable and accurate fit across the size range.

Field of vision

The helmet design blends European and American styling and incorporates a number of technical features aimed at racing use. A screwless peak helps reduce weight and creates a cleaner integration with the shell, while removable air vents make cleaning easier.

A front seal increases the contact area with the goggle strap, improving grip and helping maintain correct strap positioning. The enlarged front opening increases the field of vision and is compatible with large goggles, offering clear, unobstructed sightlines. The helmet is also compatible with neck braces.

Comfort

Comfort has been a key focus in the Airstrike FIM Racing #2. The interior lining is fully removable and washable, using hypoallergenic, breathable, soft-touch materials designed to manage moisture effectively.

The A.C.S. (Acerbis Comfort System) improves fit and internal airflow, while the cheek pads feature a new quick-release system, easily identified by silicone logos.

Emergency system

To assist with helmet removal in an emergency, the Airstrike FIM Racing #2 features a QRS emergency release system. The helmet is secured using a red Ergal double D-ring fastening.

Ventilation

Ventilation is handled by an airflow system made up of four front air intakes and five rear extractors, designed to maintain consistent airflow even during slower or more technical riding.

The Airstrike FIM Racing #2 is supplied with a range of accessories including a helmet bag, a peak extension for additional protection, an action camera mount (note that camera mounts are not permitted in official FIM competitions), a tool kit and spare screws, reinforcing its race-focused design.
