2025 Abestone Hard Enduro Results: Bolt Beats Lettenbichler at HEWC Rnd3
2025 Abestone Hard Enduro World Championship round three results from Italy where Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Billy Bolt puts together a perfect winning weekend to beat Red Bull KTM’s Mani Lettenbichler.
Abestone Hard Enduro 2025 will go down maybe not as a moment in history but certainly a significant date on Bill Bolt’s calendar: September 2025 in Italy saw him back on top of the podium ahead of Lettenbichler and as he told us at the finish, he’s“happy to be back making Mani’s life difficult.”
Already taking Erzberg and Romaniacs wins, plus victories at the opening two HEWC rounds this season, the HEWC reigning champion Mani Lettenbichelr has been literally on another level for a couple of seasons now.
But Billy Bolt has been edging closer to Mani’s level and the 2025 Abestone Hard Enduro saw the British rider put it together winning the prologue, sprint races yesterday and then main final today for a perfect weekend.
Today’s main race was a Billy versus Mani battle of the ages as the two went head-to-head for the entire main event. After mistakes yesterday, Lettenbichler was back in beast mode for the two hours-plus race and the top dogs ran well clear of their rivals, basically riding like it was an enduro test not a hard enduro.
But it was Bolt who took advantage on the final loop to lead and the pair finished metres apart, the Husqvarna rider signalling he was back: “Win qualifying, win the sprint race, win the main race…what can I say? To be honest I didn’t feel very good all weekend but I think it is a difficult place to feel comfortable but I worked hard and tried not to make too many mistakes.
“I didn’t feel that good but did enough when it counted. The clock was going down so slowly, it was a difficult race and we pushed the whole time.
“It was an amazing battle and I’m happy to be back on this level and making Mani’s life difficult.”
“He’s a big heavy guy to try and block pass!”
Magnanimous in defeat, Lettenbichler says it was good to have Bolt back pushing him: “What a race. We went back and forward so often. Bill Dog rode really good so big congrats to him. It’s been a while since we had a battle like this. I almost had him at the last downhill where we almost ran into each other. I tried to block pass him but he’s a big heavy guy to try and block pass!
“I think we proved we’re the top dogs in the sport and I hope we can have some more battles like this.”
Third place went to Mitch Brightmore who also had to put a crash behind him from day one. Although he was some distance and minute behind the Bolt and Lettenbichler battle, the X-Grip Racing team rider was well clear of James Moore who in turn claimed his best HEWC result ahead of the old dog Graham Jarvis completing the top five overall.
The final results again shows some big name riders down the finishing order including sprint race podium finisher, Mario Roman who hit electrical problems from the start and was forced to retire.
