2025 Italian Enduro Results: Pichon and Verona share victories at Rnds 1 + 2
2025 Italian “Assoluti” Enduro Championship results from rounds one and two where EnduroGP elite riders reconvened in Colliano and TM racing’s Zach Pichon, GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona and Honda REdMoto’s Steve Holcombe started their seasons with wins.
The 2025 Assoluti d’Italia championship kicked off with two rounds across a weekend in the serene village of Colliano in the province of Salerno, Italy.
The traditional battleground for many international world championship teams and riders again has an all-star cast for the 2025 season alongside the local boys and girls – one notable exception was 2024 champion Brad Freeman who has a knee injury.
The Colliano course consisted three special tests – 24MX Cross Test, Red Moto Enduro Test, and Bardahl Extreme Test – with wet conditions making it a slick start to the season for the riders on four laps (three on Sunday) of 50km course.
Holcombe, Pichon and Verona shine brightest
The story of the weekend was her intense top 10 battle between the EnduroGP elite with Steve Holcombe, starting the season with the Super Test win on the Friday night ahead of Max Ahlin and Leo le Quere.
Starting from sixth place after his prologue, it was Zach Pichon who stole the spotlight on day one, kicking off his time on the TM with a bang.
Morgan Lesiardo made a strong start also, debuting the Triumph Racing Italia 250, Steve Holcombe on the Honda Racing Red Moto CRF300RX and Andrea Verona close after the first test.
Pichon posted strongest times in the following two special tests to take the lead and held onto it for the entire race. Holcombe was right behind him, trying everything to regain lost ground, but Pichon held firm, despite a relatively poor final test while Holcombe pulled the pin.
Day one in Colliano and Enduro test 1 proved "fatal" for Verona who hit mechanical problems on the factory GASGAS, counting out of the meaningful positions but not out of the race.
The battle for bronze on day one was wide open between Lesiardo and Hamish Macdonald on the Sherco, who constantly swapped positions. The Macdonald-Lesiardo duel ended with the Italian rider claiming third place – a first podium for Triumph.
Day two – second chance for Verona
Day two started again at 8:30 AM and Verona was out for revenge, making the most of the Cross Test and Enduro Test to carve an advantage over his rivals.
The Frenchman Pichon looked determined to replicate his dominant victory from day one, but Verona was on it and Steve Holcombe also had other plans.
Holcombe and Pichon went head-to-head, constantly snatching fast times from each other in a fierce battle for second place. By the third lap, the race started to settle with Verona holding a nearly 12-second lead over Pichon, the Frenchman’s focus shifted to fending off Holcombe.
As the final test wrapped up, the standings remained unchanged: Verona took revenge with a victory, Pichon held onto a hard-fought second place, adding 17 points to the 20 he had secured the day before. Holcombe finished third, again narrowly missing out but taking two podiums on his first competitive race on the 300 Honda this season.
Samuele Bernardini also had a solid weekend and sits third in the absolute points standings on 24 points with Hamish Macdonald completing the top five after rounds one and two. The top 10 overall featured riders like Nathan Watson, Kyron Bacon, Theo Espinasse, Matteo Pavoni and Matteo Cavallo.
