2025 Spanish Enduro Championship round two results from Gironella where Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep García returned to his national championship after injury with a victory ahead of Sergio Navarro (Husqvarna) and Antoine Magain (Sherco).

Spanish enduro Championship round two in a nutshell:

  • The Spanish Enduro Championship returned on April 26 and 27 at Gironella with a single day of racing for a change, with the Super Test on Saturday and the race on Sunday, covering a route of approximately 40 kilometers and three stages that required three passes.
  • Back in national competition and eager to recover the points lost after missing the opening round due to injury, Josep García arrived determined to show that the three weeks he’d been back on the bike since the EnduroGP of Portugal had paid off.
  • The weekend didn’t get off to a great start for the KTM rider, who only finished third in the Super Test, behind Sherco Racing’s Antoine Magain and Rieju Racing’s Dominik Olszowy, a start position outside the top 20 when the terrain was still very muddy and a few minor mistakes didn’t help his cause.
  • On Sunday Garcia set the best times in all of the tests, improving his times on each lap to ultimately win by one minute and 12 seconds.
  • Josep García: “After Portugal,[EnduroGP round one] the goal was to get back to training and getting back in shape. We had this race at Gironella to test ourselves. On Saturday, before the Super Test, it rained a lot, and starting so far back, I made some mistakes. But the Super Test is always very short and intense, with few gaps.” He continued: “On Sunday, the goal was to maintain the pace and even increase it at the end. I’m super happy with how it went: I was able to push on all the stages until the end. The bike is feeling great, we tried a few things, and it’s been a perfect weekend. Now I’m really looking forward to Oliana, where it will be the real test!”
  • Second place in the scratch race and victory in E2 went to Sergio Navarro, who, after an intense duel with Magain, pushed hard on the last lap to finally overtake the Belgian and shake off the disappointment of the previous race, where the Sherco rider and Husqvarna rider swapped places.
  • Sergio Navarro: “I’m very happy to have gotten the win. It was a day of constant struggle with Magain, but I knew how to manage the pace, riding at 80% to avoid making mistakes.” He explained, “On the last lap, I decided to push a little harder to secure first place in E2, and I managed to make the difference. I rode with confidence, knowing when to risk and when to hold on, and that was the key.”
  • Antoine Magain took a comfortable victory in E3, although this time he had to settle for third place in the scratch race. Even so, he managed to retain the 24MX red plate as the championship leader.
  • Antoine Magain: “I didn’t feel very comfortable with either the bike or the terrain, and when you’re not comfortable, things don’t go well. Now it’s time to focus on next weekend with the second round of the EnduroGP World Championship, which will also count towards the Spanish National Championship. Today didn’t go as we wanted, but we came out unscathed and in good shape for the next round, which is very important.”
  • Roni Kytonen and Albin Elowson completed the top five overall, followed by Jaume Betriu, all slightly behind the leaders but securing silver in their respective categories: E1, E2, and E3.
  • In the Junior Open, Albert Fontova returned to his best form, winning by almost 30 seconds over Liam Sanjuan, while Yago Domínguez rounded out the podium.
  • In the Junior 125 2T category, SuperEnduro Youth World Champion Ramón Godino shone again, taking the win ahead of Nil Rojas and Marc Truyols.
  • In the Women’s category, Rosie Rowett gave her rivals no chance, setting the best time in every stage and being the only one without a time penalty. Second place went to Mireia Rabionet and third to María San Miguel.
