2025 FIM EnduroGP World Championship round seven results from Zschopau, Germany where Red Bull KTM’s Josep Garcia was in a class of his own on the typically tough German tests – Hamish Macdonald claims E3 World Championship crown for Sherco.
EnduroGP of Germany Day 1 in a nutshell:
- Day one in Zschopau was one which forced the very best of riders in the world to show all of their enduro skills. These masters of their trade tackled wet and muddy testsin German pastures, loamy forests with exposed roots, stumps galore and some serious uphills and descents, plus a technically tricky quarry which claimed victims.
- Eight hours on the bikes and four tough tests per lap for the main classes was old-school. For anyone thinking the world championship can be too tailored to the riders who grew up on motocross bikes, this was the anti-dote and we love the German GP for these reasons.
- Old-school skills were also on display across the classes and the cream rose to the top with Josep Garcia, Axel Semb (Juniors), Pietro Scardina (Youth) and Rachel Gutish (Enduro Women) all finishing with healthy winning margins in their respective classes and the final prize of a world title tomorrow their goals.
- An approaching one minute gap in the overall for Josep Garcia was at once a masterclass and a devastating blow for anyone who happens to be his rival. Riding the same tests and looking at the timing sheets must be a hammer blow to them. The Spaniard has an easy task tomorrow, a couple of points will do it for back-to-back EnduroGP World Championship crowns.
- It is a very similar story for Rachel Gutish who stands on the brink of becoming the USA’s first-ever world enduro champion following a devastating win today over Francesca Nocera. Effectively she only needs to finish tomorrow for the title.
- One world championship fell today and it goes the way of new Zealander, Hamish Macdonald. The Sherco Factory Racing rider has led a blue resurgence this season and though his teammate Antoine Magain has put in a solid challenge, the E3 crown and a first senior world title goes the way of the Kiwi.
- The Junior world title fight took a twist today as championship leader Kevin Cristino had a bit of a nightmare in the Extreme test on lap one. In any case Axel Semb was impressive in handling the tests and claims the win, jumping back five points to the good after Cristino literally threw it away today with a later crash which broke a radiator.
- In the Youth class Pietro Scardina claimed the win but with a solid second, Romain Dagna has one hand on the 125 trophy with an 11-point cushion to seal the deal tomorrow.
- The Enduro Junior Women is also going right to the wire with the two protagonists, Elizabeth Tett and today’s winner Lorna Lafont, seperated by just three points with one day left to race.
- The newly crowned European Enduro Champion Roland Liska was over two and a half minutes clear scratch in the Open class.
