2025 EnduroGP World Championship results from the GP of Wales in Rhayader, round four, where Red Bull KTM rider Josep Garcia was in complete control for victory ahead of Zach Pichon and Andrea Verona – maiden GP victory for Rieju’s Rosie Rowett.

EnduroGP of Wales 2025 day 1 in a nutshell:

  • If you needed a sign that Josep Garcia is on top of his game right now you needed to look no further than the first special test of the day here in Wales. While his rivals, chiefly Andrea Verona and Zach Pichon, both crashed on the first Cross test, Garcia sailed through it 10 seconds clear. 10s isn’t much by itself, but it was a blow from the get-go and because Josep is so at ease with his bike right now, and fast whatever the course throws at him, he was in control from test one.
  • Hitting a double, double single combo in the jumps near the finish line, while his rivals rolled all but two, was just a sign of his confidence (for the record only the Swedish duo Albin Norrbin and Max Ahlin, German Jeremy Sydow and the Americans Josh Toth and Dante Oliveira hit the same bravery button on those jumps).
  • From that first test forward Garcia was on for the win, clocking a lead and being able to control his pace: “I had some bad experiences in the past with a good lead and making mistakes, so I tried to manage the gap and managed the gap for the win. I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
  • His bike looks and sounds incredible, he seems to be riding better than ever, and nobody currently has an answer for that combo. His win by 20 seconds seemed like a minute in reality.
  • The fight for the podium between Andrea Verona and Zach Pichon was much closer with Verona not helping himself on lap one by jumping on a fence but in truth looking a little like the big GASGAS 450 was harder to muscle through the tests. He held off Pichon for much of the day but only by seconds. When the Frenchman had a strong final lap, winning the last two tests outright, P2 and the E2 class win was his: “I made a lot of crashes in the first lap and wasn’t so comfortable on the bike. After lap one with the team we made some changes and I started to come back and push more. Then on the last lap I was not far from Verona and I pushed hard and managed to get the win [in E2].”
  • Mikael Persson had an impressive day for P4 scratch and second behind Garcia in E1 class. The Swedish rider has put in the racing hours on British soil this year and it paid off today with his and Triumph Racing’s best GP result.
  • Honda RedMoto’s Samuele Bernardini came out on top of an intense fight for fifth place overall. Sammy, Hamish Macdonald and Antoine Magain were separated by less than four seconds.

Best of Brits

  • It must be said a couple of things were missing from an awesome day at the races – chiefly Steve Holcombe and Brad Freeman. Come back boys, we miss you!
  • The battle to be best Brit on home soil switched to an equally intense duel with Jamie McCanney and Jack Edmondson hounding Max Ahlin for eighth. A final result of ninth and tenth respectively was a very solid result for the British riders.

Revvin Kevin Junior winner

  • Kevin Cristino finally nailed the win in the Juniors. The reigning Youth World Champion has stepped up a class and capacity on the Fantic 300 2T and day one in Wales brought the result, 15 seconds clear of Leo Joyon with points leader Axel Semb third.

Youth boys

  • The flying Farioli KTM 125s continue to win in the 125 category with Romain Dagna edging clear of a day-long battle with Alberto Elgari. The TM rider finished five seconds back with Gabin Allemand claiming a maiden podium with third.

Maiden Women’s winner

  • Speaking of maidens, the fight for victory in the Enduro Women class began in test one with Rosie Rowett and Nieve Holmes looking eager to take a home GP win.
  • A couple of mistakes on lap one cost Holmes badly, leaving the Rieju teammates Rowett and Rachael Gutish to contest the overall right to the final test.
  • Rowett was impressive and pulled 40-plus seconds clear but she got caught in a bog on the last lap, handing the American Gutish the lead.
  • But Rosie wasn’t done and the British rider clawed back a 10-second advantage to go 14 seconds faster in the final test and take her first ever GP victory.
  • “I just didn’t wheelie enough and got stuck. But I knew I was faster on the Cross test and I pushed harder on the last lap. I really wanted it today.”

Track bites back

  • Day one actually was a bit of a crash-fest. Notably on a notorious part of the Cross test which has claimed some victims this and last year. All the best Corentin Poutignat, get well soon.
  • The test grabbed hold of the most local of local riders too, Alex Walton (he lives just down the hill). A shoulder injury ruled out the JET Triumph rider and possibly the GB ISDE World Trophy squad too.
