2025 South African Safari Rally results: Stage 4 Sanders steps closer to victory
2025 South African Safari Rally stage four results – Red Bull KTM’s Daniel Sanders takes third day win of the race ahead of the teammate Luciano Benavides as Monster Energy Honda Rally boys Ricky Brabec and Adrien Van Beveren scrap it out for third.
2025 South African Safari Rally day 4 in a nutshell:
Run on a loop stretching for 694 km (including 224 km against the clock), stage 4 was the longest of the South African Safari Rally and saw another double for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing with Daniel Sanders storming to victory in RallyGP and Edgar Canet in Rally2. Both men inched closer to victory on tomorrow’s final stage.
The challenge of opening the road on his own seems not to be enough to slow Daniel Sanders down this season, and particularly in this rally. The fastest apple farmer on Earth won from the front for the second day in a row, his third day victory in total the beat the Honda duo of Adrien Van Beveren (+1′51″) and Skyler Howes (+1′58″).
For the record this marks Chucky’s 11th RallyGP stage victory of 2025, a new single-season record, surpassing the 10 victories claimed by his teammate Luciano Benavides in 2023 and by Tosha Schareina last season with Monster Energy Honda HRC.
The net result is Sanders now extends his lead the overall to 7′01″ over Benavides while the battle for the final podium place is a red hot one between Van Beveren (+10′17″) under pressure from his Honda teammate Ricky Brabec (+10′42″).
RALLY 2: Canet one step closer
Fourth outright in the FIM classification, Spanish rider Edgar Canet claimed yet another Rally2 stage win, this time finishing 1′58″ ahead of Tobias Ebster (Hero MotoSports) and 6′20″ up on local rider Michael Docherty (BAS World KTM). After winning his class at Dakar, his maiden Dakar no less, the KTM factory rider crashed out of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge but looks well on course to be back on top in South Africa with a healthy 20′14″ margin ahead of Ebster and 27′28″ clear of Docherty.
It ain’t over until it is over however and stage five, a 222 km loop in and out of the Sun City bivouac, features 111 km against the clock that will bring down the curtain on the inaugural edition of this rally.
