Results from Offroad Day 3 of the 2025 Red Bull Romaniacs – Billy Bolt claims victory, clawing back time on race leader Mani Lettenbichler and applying the pressure ahead of the decisive final day. Mario Roman rounds the podium after stopping to assist his Sherco teammate, Teodor Kabakchiev, who was forced to retire following a crash.
Red Bull Romaniacs 2025 – Offroad Day 3 Highlights:
- The penultimate day at RBR 2025 literally had everything from a new winner this week, a major upset and exit of podium contender, jaw-dropping views and postcard-worthy backdrops across the Carpathian Mountains. The 186-kilometre route featured brutal climbs and technical descents through now-legendary sections like Gold Shootup, Mayday Mom and Stairway to Heaven.
- As the second part of the marathon stage, today marked the return of service crews. Riders had a brief window mid-route to swap tyres and tend to battered clutches – a critical moment to regroup for what was yet another relentless day in the saddle.
- Billy Bolt was the rider of the day, taking the win with a time of 6h11m32s after spending most of the ride alongside Lettenbichler. Despite Mani crossing the line physically ahead, the time sheets told a different story – the German dropped 3m02s to Billy. It doesn’t shift the balance dramatically, but Bolt now starts second tomorrow, 13m46s behind Lettenbichler overall but will start day 4 first.
- The day also claimed another big name. Following Alfredo Gomez’s exit on Day 2 with a broken hand, Teodor Kabakchiev was today’s major casualty. The Bulgarian hit a tree hard and is suspected to have sustained a broken wrist after a heavy one. At the time, he was riding with teammate Mario Roman, chasing the leading duo when the crash ended his race.
- Mario, who stayed with his teamamate and along with Eddie Karlsson made sure the emergency crews arrived at the remote location, had to regroup. The Spaniard overtook Michael Walkner in the demanding Leatt Live Maniacs loop and finished third, helped by an 8m20s time credit for stopping to aid Kabakchiev. With a sizeable gap to the leaders, Roman’s focus for the final day is clear: lock in the podium aboard his Sherco 300 SE Factory – and if the chance comes, go for the stage win.
- Michael Walkner and his GASGAS were the next to reach the finish, with the Austrian visibly spent after a tough, hot day in the mountains. Still, it marked his best result so far at this year’s Romaniacs, coming home 23 minutes and 56 seconds behind the day’s winner.
- Just behind him, Mitch Brightmore rounded out the top five, finishing just 10 minutes off Walkner’s pace. And not far behind came the ageless legend, Graham Jarvis – the Brit, now 50 years old, proving once again that he’s far from done, crossing the line barely a minute behind his younger compatriot.
- Further back, with gaps approaching the two-hour mark on the day leader, came Felix Bähkler (GER), David Cyprian (CZE), Francesc Moret (ESP), and Matthew Green (GBR), completing the top 10 of this gruelling Offroad Day 3.
- In the Silver class, Costa Rica’s Juston Elizondo took the stage win ahead of Tobin Miller (USA) and Kornel Ott (HUN). Elizondo holds onto the overall lead, once again staying ahead of the electric Stark VARG ridden by Sweden’s Eddie Karlsson.
- Bronze class saw a win from Guatemala’s Diego Chang, followed by Xing Yang (CHN) and Benjamin Richter (GER). Chang’s victory consolidates his overall lead, with the Chinese rider continuing as his closest challenger.
- Iron class was topped by Fabio Carvalho from Portugal, who beat out Canadian Alexander Petroiu and Romania’s Ovidiu Tronaru.
- In Atom, the day’s podium mirrored the overall standings: Kazakhstan’s Dimitriy in first, Mexico’s Carlos Gracida in second, and Austria’s Hans Peter Haunschmid third. Great Britain’s Justin Short rounds out the overall top three behind the leading duo.
- Adventure Ultimate class saw Jonny Walker take the win aboard his Triumph Tiger 900, edging out Pol Tarrés on the Yamaha Ténéré 700. Kimonas Karampelas rounded out the podium. Despite the result, the Catalan rider (Tarrés) retains the overall lead, with the Brit and the Greek hot on his heels.
- In Adventure Lite, fellow Triumph rider Sam Sunderland added another stage win to his tally, this time finishing ahead of Joop Nissink (NED) and Daniel Fernández (COL). The result puts Sunderland on the verge of sealing the overall victory for the British brand in this category.
- In the eMoto class, Romanian rider Sebastian Dudas took top honours in the Expert division, while Germany’s Martin Dosch led the Hobby category. Both riders further strengthened their overall leads with another clean, consistent day.
- The fourth and final Offroad day will be shorter than previous stages, but no less demanding. With the legendary Gusterita climb as the ultimate decider, riders will need to play their cards right. Lettenbichler starts with a time advantage but knows there’s no room for mistakes. Bolt, second in the standings, will have to attack from the very first metre if he wants a shot at the win. Meanwhile, Mario Roman, slightly further adrift, will focus on defending his podium spot.
- It all comes down to one last battle — where strategy, stamina and a cool head will be just as important as a heavy throttle to crown the 2025 Red Bull Romaniacs champion.
