2026 SuperEnduro Rnd 7 Results: Mitch Brightmore Steps Up with Victory in France
Results from 2026 SuperEnduro World Championship round seven in France and a night of firsts with Mitch Brightmore claiming a maiden overall victory in a dramatic fight with Jonny Walker for second in the championship. Fraiser Lampkin and Connor Watson completed a British sweep of the podium places with Junior and Youth class victories.
SuperEnduro round 7 in a nutshell:
The final round of the 2026 SuperEnduro season might have been lacking its talisman but it certainly didn’t lack drama on a night of firsts: maiden overall wins coming in all four categories — Prestige, Junior, Youth and European classes on the night.
The big question was who would fill Billy’s boots? Jonny Walker carried a decent advantage but Mitch Brightmore was on a run of form which gave him a sniff of grabbing second overall. The small matter of the manufacturers’ title also hung in the balance with Stark Future poised to take an historic win ahead of the ICE bikes.
The track was also a talking point on the night. With no real flow to it, it was described by some as “awkward”, featuring giant tyres into 90-degree turns, slick logs, deep ruts and a long rock garden leading into a drop before a tabletop. Even the finish-line jump landed flat. It looked like it had been designed by a sadist.
Superpole hot lap
It was a track for the neat and tidy riders — those who could knit it together — and Eddie Karlsson on the agile Stark, plus the Brightmore brothers with their BMX/MTB skills, had it dialled in best of all.
Those three carried that form into the Superpole shootout with Ash Brightmore setting the early benchmark which Mitch could not quite beat. Jonny Walker ended his season as he started it with a crash in Superpole which hurt his gate position and made life harder in the fight for second in the championship on the night.
But it was Karlsson who went last of all and clocked the fastest time of the whole GP to claim a maiden Superpole win.
Moto 1
A Prestige race without Billy Bolt felt strange but the riders were well up for it and moto one didn’t disappoint.
Karlsson made a sweet start to grab the lead early with Ash Brightmore in hot pursuit followed by Mani Lettenbichler in third. Jonny Walker meanwhile went down on the opening lap and took a hit to the ribs, remounting in dead last.
Mitch Brightmore got past Lettenbichler and then took second as Ash nose-dived in the rocks. That set up a real fight as Eddie and Mitch pulled clear out front and took it all the way to the flag.
Neither rider had ever won a Prestige race and both wanted it badly as they traded the lead before Mitch edged a slight gap and held on from the Swede, with Lettenbichler holding off Ash for third.
It was a significant win for Mitch, while Walker fought back to fifth. That meant the battle for second overall narrowed to just three points with Brightmore looking confident and Walker injured with two motos still to come.
Moto 2
Jonny Walker made an aggressive start from the front row in moto two — he needed to if he wanted to hold onto second place in the series.
Behind him Toby Martyn was flying early while Karlsson and Mitch Brightmore had a fierce battle behind Lettenbichler as they fought for the result on the night. Mitch, though, had one eye on the championship too and when Martyn hit the deck in front of them, Mitch had Walker in his sights.
Jonny was showing little sign of his injuries while Lettenbichler was also pushing hard. The gap to Walker was not shrinking much until the one-lap board came out. Then it closed rapidly and, attempting a block pass as they approached the line, the pair jumped into each other which put Mitch on the deck and allowed Lettenbichler to steal second from Mitch third. The X-Grip rider had to give it his all but it was the nail in the coffin for his P2 in the series aspirations.
Moto 3
Another flying start from Karlsson ahead of teammate Martyn in the final moto didn’t last long as Mitch Brightmore blitzed through and then blocked Eddie for the lead on lap two.
Brightmore pulled a healthy gap as the Stark riders tried to fend off Jonny Walker for the podium and a close battle then developed between Walker and Karlsson.
Ash Brightmore was also on a charge behind them and closed right down on Jonny before attempting a banzai move, crashing into the Triumph. Walker picked it up and then had to fight Karlsson off again. Walker had to dig deep to seal second on the night but the result was second overall for the season once again.
The victory went to Mitch Brightmore though, and a first-ever overall win on a night where he looked like the rider who wanted it the most.
Eddie Karlsson was third overall on countback (joint on 48 points on the night with Walker) finishing fourth in the championship with Toby Martyn fifth and that helped secure the manufacturers’ title for Stark in their second season of SuperEnduro.

Junior World Championship — Lampkin with maiden win
Nico Piazza was all action in the opening Junior moto, leading early ahead of Fraiser Lampkin. Mid-race the Yorkshireman found a way through with smart lines which suggested he had been studying the Prestige riders. A neat and tidy ride kept him mistake-free and delivered a maiden Junior class win.
Championship leader Toby Shaw was caught up in first-turn chaos and had to fight past the erratic Piazza and then Manuel Gomez for a hard-earned second place. The title was not yet secured though — he still needed three more points.
Berts Crayston grabbed the holeshot in moto two with Shaw calm from the back row. A bold jump over the giant tyres saw him move from around seventh to second in one move. With Crayston looking surprised to be leading for so much of the race, Shaw closed him down and eventually passed to seal the world title in style.
Crayston fought hard to respond but second place was still his best-ever result, with Lampkin taking an important third.
New Junior champion Toby Shaw now joins a list of British Junior SuperEnduro World Champions including Danny McCanney, Will Hoare and the Brightmore brothers, Mitch and Ash.
A chaotic opening lap in the final moto saw the new champion crash and suffer bike issues which dropped him down the order. Out front Gomez led ahead of Lampkin and the ever-aggressive Piazza battling for second.
Lampkin looked determined to secure the overall. When a lapper delayed Gomez the Beta rider moved through, with Piazza following. The American pushed hard for a maiden moto win but more mistakes allowed Lampkin to break clear for the win and, fittingly on this final night of the season, a first overall victory.

Youth World Championship — Watson Delivers
There was a dramatic start to the opening Youth race as riders piled up straight off the line with Eneko Martinez escaping the chaos but newly crowned champion Wojtek Walczak getting caught out badly. Connor Watson was also involved but shrugged it off and charged through the pack to claim what eventually looked like a comfortable opening moto win.
Martinez again made the fastest start in the second and final moto of the season but a mistake on lap two allowed Watson easy passage through to the lead and Walczak into second.
Watson was the fastest rider on track on the 125s and stuck to his lines for another comfortable win which gave the Eurotek rider his first overall victory. Keeping the theme of the night, it was also Sherco’s first overall win. Champion Walczak finished second with Martinez third overall.

European Championship decider
The final round of the season brought the European championship riders back into action after a two-race break. Championship leader Eric Miguel had already taken five wins and only needed to finish safely to secure the title.
Fortunately for the Rieju rider he could afford his worst results of the season and still become the 2026 European Champion.
Damian Broniewski produced his best performance of the season with a 1–2 scorecard to claim the overall victory — notably the first-ever SuperEnduro overall win for a Triumph rider.
The French crowd also had a home rider to celebrate in moto two as Fabien Poirot won a four-way battle for victory and second overall ahead of Marc Szoke, who secured third on the night and a strong second in the championship for the Hungarian.
