Toni Bou beater Jaime Busto Does Enduro on a Stock Yamaha YZ250F
TrialGP and X-Trial World Championship winner, and Toni Bou beater, Jaime Busto hops on a bog-standard Yamaha YZ250F for Bassella Xtreme Enduro.
Not enough Yamahas in enduro did someone say? Not in Europe at least, where the Japanese manufacturer has all but dried up any support for our sport in favour of motocross and adventure bikes.
Financial support is also lacking in TrialGP and X-Trial it seems, and that allowed Spanish rider Jaime Busto to jump on a completely stock YZ250F so he could enjoy himself and put on a bit of a show at the Bassella Race last weekend.
Out of contract with a manufacturer, Busto is free to ride what he likes and, while he ponders a self-funded team in the 2026 FIM TrialGP World Championship, he took a bike from Motos Ausio, Yamaha’s official dealer in Spain, to compete in the big enduro festival last weekend.

Beats Bou – can’t get a ride
If you think the Hard Enduro World Championship is in a bit of turmoil then consider one of the few people on this planet to beat Toni Bou in a straight fight not having a ride. Busto’s contract with GASGAS evaporated when the Austrian manufacturer pulled its racing programme at the end of 2025.
In fact, the following day Jaime competed in the Barcelona X-Trial, where he finished second, riding a 2017 GASGAS TXT 300. Yes, a 2017 model.
Neither Sherco nor Beta – the two brands most strongly linked to him – decided to sign him, so it now looks like he will contest the TrialGP World Championship with his own structure and a privateer GASGAS.

Following in Mario’s footsteps?
Imagine a privateer winning an FIM World Championship event. It could happen in Hard Enduro this year as Mario Roman, who chose to make his own way this year and build his own team for the HEWC, is looking good on the new Husqvarna.

Those are different circumstances for each rider, although HEWC and TrialGP are not so far removed from each other in seeing one or two riders dominate and the economic scale drop dramatically behind them.
Derailed chain busts Busto’s Bassella result
As for his sporting result at Bassella, Jaime finished P7 in the second Xtreme Race semi-final, and in the final he was fighting for a podium position with Alfredo Gomez until they made contact, his chain came off, and he lost his chances.
He eventually finished P10, but just 3m04s behind Josep Garcia.

Not his first rodeo
Jaime enjoys competing in enduro and motocross, disciplines that are faster and better suited to his riding style, and he says he is not interested in hard enduro at all if you were wondering why he doesn’t try that.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen him in Spanish events where his schedule has allowed, and he usually takes part in Bassella and Enduroc at least.
In the past, he also wanted to race some rounds of the Spanish Enduro Championship, but it wasn’t possible due to the proximity to TrialGP, X-Trial, or the Spanish Trial Championship. This year it could happen.
