2025 GNCC Results and Highlights: Grant Davis Nails Overall win at the Hoosier
RAW recap adn results from the 2025 Hoosier GNCC, Grand national Cross Country Series round seven where KTM riders take a clean sweep as XC2 250 Pro Class winner Grant Davis wins overall to close in on Ben Kelley and the points lead.
In dusty, dry conditions at the weekends racing on Crawfordsville circuit at The Hoosier GNCC nvere-the-less had the usual wet creeks, rocks, roots and ruts to deal with.
Round seven of the 2025 GNCC season was another epic one but which proved a very successful one for KTM with Grant Davis claiming his first overall winning result of the season for FMF KTM Factory Racing Team Landers.
The win marked a fifth in class during the 2025 season but Davis finally nailed the OA after coming so close all year. The Landers team rider says he had to change tactics and some bike set-up to arrive at this result which sees an XC2 rider heading for the overall GNCC title.
“I’ve been working so hard all year and I’ve been pretty pissed off the last couple of races that I’ve been losing out on these overall wins,” said Davis. “Ben just gives it to me on that last lap every time! These last two weeks I’ve been working on myself to figure out what I can do different to get it done.
“I normally get to those XC1 guys and then take a breather. This time when I got to them, I was just hammering them. I tried to get by them as fast as I could. I caught up to Ben and he actually let me by which was nice. I started getting a little gap on him but the last lap I hit a water hole and completely ruined my goggles. I had to run the last lap without goggles, so that was tough but other than that I’m really pumped on my day.
“This paddle tire I’ve got on the back is the move, I’m telling you! I worked with the WP guys for a few weeks and got some stuff figured out before Ohio. But obviously Ohio, I didn’t show that, I rode bad. This weekend I was pretty mad. I was like ‘I’m either winning or I’m going to be dead.’ It worked today. I didn’t even hit the ground once today. I’m pumped on that.”
Second on the podium for points leader Kelley
FMF KTM Factory Racing Team’s Ben Kelley took a couple of laps to get in front, having trailed holeshotter Steward Baylor. Kelley made the pass on Baylor mid-race to take the lead and as the riders began making fuel stops, the Kawasaki rider Baylor was already having clutch issues which would later force him out of the race, his second DNF of the season.
Kelley was closed down by Davis but used the tow to maintain second overall and victory in the XC1 Open Pro Class. The result sees the former champion on top the overall points standings but by just one point from Davi after seven rounds of the 2025 season.
Ben Kelley: “The track was really rough, but I got myself into the lead, which was good, and then later in the race, I had about a 15-second lead on Grant, but I was struggling by that point. He eventually got by me and I tried to keep him in my sights so he could drag me along to the end. I’m happy with the rebound from last week, there was some good and some bad from today, so onto the next one.”
After winning XC2 250 Pro last time out, Gus Riordan's 2025 season continued at the Hoosier with third overall and P2 in class. Gus is also third in the OA standings on 122 to Kelly’s 148 and Davis’ 147 points.
Gus Riordan: “I was able to get the holeshot, which is the first one in a long time, and I think my mechanic was happy with that! I tucked the front not long after that and went down, then from there it was hard to make the time up on Grant. I had Cody [Barnes] right on me for the rest of the race, which was stressful, but all-in-all I’m happy and ready to go for the next one – I’m feeling good!”
Fourth WXC win of the season for Archer
In the morning race Phoenix Racing Honda’s Tayla Jones grabbed the WXC Holeshot but would sadly crash out of the race on the second lap.
Rocky Mountain Red Bear Kawasaki Team Green’s Rachael Archer had already made her way into the lead as they came through timing and scoring on the opening lap and lead the way to earn her fourth win of the season.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Korie Steede battled to finish second on the day ahead of AmPro Yamaha Aussie new girl, Danielle McDonald who came back from a first lap crash to finish third in the WXC class.
