Spain’s biggest enduro, the Bassella Race is happening this weekend.
A total of 1,488 riders will start including big names competing the new WESS series this year. Among them will be Enduro World Champ and last year's winner Josep Garcia. He's joined on the start line by Extreme specialists Mario Román, Alfredo Gomez, Taddy Blazusiak, Jonny Walker and Wade Young.
The two day event begins with an extreme challenge around the forest area of the race in Bassella, in central Catalonia, Spain.
On day two, Sunday, the Extreme riders will complete a 70km route with eight specific ‘Extreme Zone’ detours, which they must follow using a GPS track.
In the Enduro class Gas Gas will be out in force with Christophe Nambotin and David Knight racing. Jaume Betriu and Antonie Basset are in the line-up along with Dakar riders fresh back from South America Laia Sanz, Ivan Cervantes, Gerard Farres and Dani Oliveras from the Himoinsa Rally Team.
The Enduro class completes two 58km laps on the Sunday main race. Bassella also has 60 racers competing in a Classic Enduro race for bikes older the 25 years plus there's a Juniors race.
