Wheelies, extreme enduro and flat-out – Husqvarna’s new EE-5 getting the full test treatment by Billy Bolt.
Ok, so the new Husqvarna Motorcycles EE-5 kids dirt bike is not strictly aimed at riders the size of Billy Bolt but the Wordl Enduro Super Series Champion was among the very few to get the first test in Finland.
The five-kilowatt EE-5 is aimed to rival any 50cc fuel-powered motorcycle in performance and looks, with the obvious benefits of an E-bike like minimal noise, dirt, no fuel mixing and a ride anywhere nature.
EE 5 technical highlights:
State-of-the-art electric motor with 5 kW peak performance
Six different ride modes, easy to select
907 Wh lithium-ion battery
High-end chassis with race proven technology
Modern, Swedish-inspired design
Ergonomic bodywork and adjustable seat height
WP suspension – XACT air fork and rear shock – for advanced performance and control
Husqvarna brought a coupe along to the Enduro range World Launch in Finland this month and had a couple of kids ripping round a mini track to show how good they were.
The biggest kids onboard was Billy Bolt, take a look at his onboard footage!
This first ever electric Husqvarna motorcycle, the EE 5 is designed to be an environmentally friendly way to learn, compete and have fun for kids.
It is easily adaptable so you can adjust the ride height (between 205mm and 185mm suspension travel) to keep pace with an improving or growing rider. Seat height is 698mm which can be reduced to 653mm (or 553mm with a lowering kit) and the claimed weight is 40.5kg.
The age range depends on the size and experience of the child obviously but the thinking is from four years and upwards until they out-grow it.
Husqvarna say it delivers two hours of riding for beginners and 25 minutes for serious racers, easily enough for a moto for the serious racers out there. The supplied charger takes just 70 minutes to fully charge the lithium-ion battery.
The EE 5 is fitted with 35mm WP XACT forks combine with a fully-adjustable WP rear shock. A high-strength chromoly frame, hydraulically operated brakes, lightweight wheels, tapered NEKEN handlebars and like their big brother’s graphics kit completes all-new EE 5 machine.
Husqvarna Motorcycles offer the ‘Railed’ kids clothing range – a range of off road clothing and protective equipment every bit the quality you want to protect and be functional.
There’s also a line-up of accessories available for the EE 5 including: different rear sprockets, seat, graphics kit, CNC-machined compression adjuster for eh shock and a frame protector sticker set.
The Husqvarna EE 5 will be available worldwide from July 2019 at all authorised Husqvarna Motorcycles Dealers (excluding North America where the EE 5 will be available in Autumn 2019). Husqvarna say availability may vary from country to country. For all details on pricing and availability, please refer to your national Husqvarna Motorcycles Subsidiary or Importer.
