The 2017 AMA KENDA/SRT National Hare & Hound season officially kicks off this weekend!
Hosted by Desert MC of District 36, 80 epic miles of rain soaked dirt will make up the club's 50th Annual Winter Classic.
Located in Lucerne Valley, California, weeks of drought-breaking rain has dampened the high desert terrain.
When it comes to top level competition, the talent ranges from from Pee Wee's to Pros, and Ricky Brabec will be looking to defend his 2016 title.
But the competition will be tough as the series will see the likes of the world's best off-road racers take to the Zip Ty Starting Line including; Ricky Brabec, Jacob Argubright, Taylor Robert, Gary Sutherlin, Ivan Ramirez, Skyler Howes, Ryan Smith, Nick Burson, Axel Pearson and more!
Brabec starts with #1 plate for 2017 and just off a hugely successful Dakar campaign for HRC Honda, where he claimed a debut stage win, he’ll look to keep the momentum rolling on home turf.
But he’s got fresh company for 2017 in the form of KTM’s Taylor Robert. The 2016 ISDE champ is back in the USA following a full season in EnduroGP. A one-off NHHA ride in 2016 saw him test the waters with a clear-cut win.
A full weekend of racing will see defending 2016 champions take their first shot at keeping their crown. The main feature on Saturday is the Youth Series, which begins at 1:15pm with a Rider's Meeting on the start line. The Kurt Caselli Foundation will also be on-site to hand out the KC66 orange glow bibs for Youth riders to increase the visibility while racing.
Sunday's big bike race begins with Bomb practice from 7:30am-9am, and banner is up at 9:30am- so don't be late!
The NHHA will have Facebook LIVE (service permitting) throughout the weekend. Spectators can gather at the KTM Finish Line to watch as the West Coast's fastest off-road riders take the checkered flag.
