CFMoto lead electric dirt bike shocks at EICMA Show
CFMoto unveil the CF-X off-road model and headline an electric dirt bike revolution at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show.
With each year the presence of Asian manufacturers and electric motorcycles at the annual mega motorcycle show in Milan, EICMA, grows exponentially.
CFMoto, partly through its “strategic partnership” with Pierer Mobility, aka KTM Group, is among the highest profile of those and this week they unveiled CF-X model on stage.
Enduro21 previewed this bike a while back, and made the incorrect assumption it was linked to KTM. It’s not it seems and the presentation of the prototype model by CFMoto at EICMA was viewed by a pretty big crowd which included no shortage of other manufacturer’s interested personnel (shows like this don’t half give the game away because everyone has a team shirt on!).
Already in production with a their own youth electric dirt bike, the CF-X is on the face of it a scaled-up adult version of that. As is common across all the recent, serious electric off-road bikes, it uses the motor and seemingly battery as load bearing components, bolted to the frame.
At present, Enduro21 doesn’t have any technical details about this bike but check the detail images in the gallery above.
They’re coming…like it or not
However you feel about electric dirt bikes, you cannot deny their growing presence. Stark Future are the highest profile manufacturer of an electric motocross and enduro motorcycle. KTM are also recently back on the wagon having finally updated their Freeride model as the market gains momentum alongside ICE bikes with a new generation of dirt bike riders.
Japanese manufacturers are also a long way down the line with their electric bikes with Honda having won the E-Xplorer World Cup with their CR-E and Yamaha, who just this week announced an investment in French company Electric Motion, being a long-time e-motor manufacturer.
Other manufacturers were putting electric dirt bikes on show at EICMA including Chinese manufacturer and Dakar competitors Kove (above) as well as Indian manufacturer Hero who displayd this eye-boggling prototype.
