Stark reveal new ALG electric adventure bike claiming more power & less weight than 800 ADV rivals
Stark Future officially “leak” new ALG Adventure bike model details and reveal big plans to expand into street bikes including the huge Asian 100–500cc markets, hinting at an 85cc-rivalling MX model, a freeride bike and even an ATV.
“This will become the best-selling adventure bike in the world”, is a bold statement by any measure. But we are used to them from Stark Future co-founder, Anton Wass.
He’s talking about the plans officially leaked for the Spanish manufacturer’s road bike future. And they are big with new ALG adventure model ready to take on the mid-weight, 800cc sector with 50% more power, less weight, a charge time “as fast as you can drink a cup of coffee” and “more range than you will need before you need to stop and take a piss.”
ALG – Swedish for Elk if you’re asking
By now you should be familiar with the Varg motocross model, followed last year by the enduro and trail EX version. A supermotard street version of the Varg is expected to be the next physical new release from Stark.
But the adventure bike named ALG – Swedish for Elk, if you’re asking – is the big news they’re letting snippets of detail slip about as Stark move beyond the Varg into transport, daily commuting, lifestyle riding, tools for work, and sport-focused machines.
Part of the point of the official “leak” of their future road bike ambitions is to show they are a full-blown motorcycle manufacturer with actual machines in development with which they aim to claim a massive part of the sales market.
50% more power, less weight and a fast charge time
“We are working on an adventure bike targeting the European motorcycle market,” says Wass. “This is in the 800cc category, we’re targeting 50% more power, a lower weight and a charging time as fast as you can drink a cup of coffee.
“It will have more range than you will need before you need to stop and take a piss or want a coffee. This will change the perspective of road motorcycles forever.”
Details and glimpses of the ALG are deliberately blurred and carefully edited so we can’t see much, but we can say the model has the hallmarks we’d expect from an ADV machine built by Stark.
That means it looks to have the fairing and design (and hopefully riding experience) closer to a 450 rally bike than the mid-weight adventure bikes it will take on in the showrooms and on the trails.
Wait, there’s more
As well as the ALG, Stark will continue with a street bike called LO, meaning lynx in Swedish, which will have similar specs and ambitions of less weight and more power but a more sportsbike-like design.
Add to that an idea still in the early stages but perhaps the most ambitious: a bike which is aimed at the vast Asian market. That huge sector includes bikes in the 100 to 500cc bracket that sell in the millions, and will be a target for Stark with an “aggressively” competitively priced bike, they say.
They have also leaked plans for a freeride bike, talk of an electric bike in the “untouched” 85cc motocross category (currently nothing competitive exists in that area between small kids’ bikes and the Varg full-size machine), plus an ATV which will offer functions like being able to charge your kit if you're a woods kinda person packing the power tools.
They told us they had big ambitions when they launched the original Varg MX bike. It looks like they weren’t kidding.
