Triumph all-on for EnduroCross with track just for Jonny Walker (and his new 450)
Triumph Racing go all-in for 2025 EnduroCross season with purpose-built training track for Jonny Walker in the US – former champ expected to make TF 450-E debut in EX season beginning October 18.
In case you were in any doubt about Triumph Racing’s desire to take on the world off-road sport, they’ve only just gone and built an entire EnduroCross track just for one man.
Jonny Walker is that man and Triumph brought in experts to build the new track at the impressive facility in Georgia, which already houses purpose-built Supercross and Motocross tracks, and race workshops.
Walker’s rivals in the EnduroCross championship, notably Trystan Hart who’s able to use a track built by KTM facility in Murietta, might be mildly jealous of how good this looks. But it will come as a bit of a gut wrench for the SuperEnduro World Championship boys back in Europe watching on to see what Jonny’s got to train on.
Walker set for 450 debut
Walker and Triumph were pretty much box-fresh when they arrived at the early rounds of the EnduroCross series last year, learning the bike and developing deep into the indoor season.
With the 2025 AMA EnduroCross Championship beginning on October 18, the new track will be Walker’s base for training and developing a new TF 450-E.
Enduro21 spoke to Jonny and race team manager Paul Edmondson who both explained the marginally more weight (on paper, with a stock bike – a factory race bike will be
different) is easily outweighed by the extra fire power the 450 has. The bit JW22 was lacking to take the challenge to the likes of Billy Bolt in the SuperEnduro series.
“I’m excited to be part of this Triumph project building the new track,” says Jonny, “it’ll give me the best possibility to win the championship. I’ve been with the guys here over the last week or so while they’ve been completing the build and refining the track.
“Having this facility finished now means we’ve got a good four weeks of solid practice, which is something I’ve never had going into an EnduroCross championship. It will put us in the best possible position to go out and win, and I’m really excited to get to work.”
No longer stuck in a training track rut
Study the images of the new training track at the Triumph facility and you’ll see how wide it is to give Jonny options to practice lines and tackles the obstacles from different angles. Getting stuck doing the same lines is an issue at some of the tracks where lots of riders have been training for years.
Walker and Triumph Racing will contest the full 2025 EnduroCross series which runs from October 18 in Prescott Valley, moves to Idaho Falls on October 24/25, Redmond November 8, Reno November 15 and finally Everett on November 22.
Walker then has a bit of time before heading back to Europe for the SuperEnduro season, which begins on December 13.
Triumph’s commitment
Expansion of the US race facility underlines Triumph’s commitment to its ambitious global racing programme that launched in 2024.
The British manufacturer made its debut in the FIM MXGP Motocross World Championship and the AMA SuperMotocross Championship, finishing with a number of podiums in its inaugural season.
Triumph then announced its entry into the FIM SuperEnduro series, and the FIM EnduroGP World Championship this season. Alongside its factory entry in the most prestigious off-road series, Triumph launched its production TF 250-X and TF 450-RC motocross machines as well as the TF 250-E and TF 450-E enduro models, which are available globally.
Ian Kimber – Head of Global Racing Programmes, Triumph Motorcycles: “The newly developed Triumph Factory Racing facility we have in the US has all of the tools to help our riders succeed in their championships.
“We’ve been able to utilise it for both race training and testing for our supercross and motocross racers, but there was always the intention to also include enduro within what we offer there. Having such an established racer as Jonny on board means that we’ve been able to use his expertise to refine the perfect test and training facility for him, and future riders, competing in EnduroCross and SuperEnduro.
“This means Jonny has the ideal place to train ahead of the upcoming season and gives us easily accessible testing opportunities to put the TF 250-E and TF 450-E through their paces. It further demonstrates our overall commitment to our racing and development programme in off-road, and our intention to battle at the sharp end of the competition in everything we do. So far, we’ve enjoyed incredible success in such a short time since we began this programme, and it’s really exciting to see how we can evolve from our strong starting point.”
