2025 EnduroGP of Sweden Results: Zach Pichon on song on day 1 in Skovde
Day one results from the 2025 GP of Sweden, EnduroGP World Championship round three where TM’s Zach Pichon stormed to a comfortable win in Scandinavia 48 seconds ahead of Red Bull KTM’s Josep Garcia and Sherco’s Hamish Macdonald returning to the podium.
EnduroGP Rnd 3 day 1 in a nutshell:
A 48-second winning margin over Josep Garcia? Say what now? That’s the gap Frenchman Zach Pichon carved out, largely thanks to his speed and consistency on tests that got rougher and rougher throughout the day. Staying fast and taking time on the long Enduro test was a crucial part of his recipe for success—as it so often is.
Still carrying a foot injury from the previous GP, and admitting he hasn’t trained much, Garcia was satisfied enough with second overall and P1 in E1. The Red Bull KTM rider says he will use day oen as training to go again tomorrow.
Perhaps happiest of all (did we see a tear in the eye?) was Hamish Macdonald, who knows better than most how tough it is to climb onto an EnduroGP podium after his injury a couple of years ago. The Kiwi secured Sherco’s first overall podium of the season, finishing just 12 seconds behind Garcia, a narrow 1.6 seconds ahead of GASGAS’s Andrea Verona, and just over 3 seconds clear of Mikael Persson. To say the fight for the final step on the podium was close would be an understatement.
Verona, the previous round winner, admitted fourth wasn’t where he wanted to be and a minute behind Pichon was disappointing and down to his own errors throughout the day, the GASGAS rider said.
Best-placed Swedish rider Mikael Persson also made history, giving Triumph their first-ever special test wins in EnduroGP. He was all smiles at the finish, despite narrowly missing out on third overall but was a solid second in E1.
Juniors and Youth Class:
In the Junior ranks, Fantic factory rider and Swedish crowd favorite Axel Semb delivered a near-identical winning margin to Pichon’s in the seniors. Roared on by home support, Semb posted times close to the overall top 10—eerily similar to his teammate and ISDE trophy-winning partner, Albin Norrbin.
Fastest Kawasaki was Kyron Bacon in second for MGR, unable to match Semb on home soil but comfortably ahead of Kevin Cristino in third for Fantic.
In the Youth 125 class, TM’s Alberto Elgari brought home more silverware for the Boano team, winning by 20 seconds over another Fantic rider, Pietro Scardina, with Romain Dagna rounding out the podium.
Open World Cup:
Roland Liska showed his SuperEnduro skills transfer well to classic time-card enduro, taking the overall win in the Open World Cup. Riders in this support class completed two laps of the tricky Swedish course, with Liska finishing almost a minute ahead of Welshman Gethin Humphreys, and Patrik Capila from Brazil completing the international podium in third.
