The Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship returns this weekend to Oliana for round two of the 2026 season, with the Spanish GP arriving right after the opener in Custonaci, Sicily. There, Josep Garcia and Brad Freeman split the overall wins, and the tight times among the front runners made one thing clear: in 2026, not even half a second will be given away.

Oliana returns as host of the Spanish GP after making its world championship debut last year, an edition defined by rain and conditions that tested riders, teams and fans alike. This time, the weather forecast again threatens showers — especially on Saturday — which could actually benefit a track that has been dry after a rain-scarce month. Still, it’s unlikely to turn into anything like the mudfest of the final day in 2025. That said, we all know how it goes: a bit of rain in the right place can completely change a special test.

All eyes will be on Josep Garcia of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team. The rider from Súria arrives on home soil as the EnduroGP championship leader after winning day one in Italy and leaving Sicily with the golden plate. Racing at home always brings motivation, but also pressure — especially with Brad Freeman back on winning form for the Beta Factory Team, Andrea Verona increasingly comfortable on the factory KTM 450 EXC-F, and Steve Holcombe returning to the championship in Sherco blue with renewed title ambitions.

A proper enduro weekend

The Oliana course promises proper enduro in one of the sport’s strongholds on the Iberian Peninsula. The lap will be 42 kilometres long and completed four times each day, featuring three very different special tests: a long, forest-based GMoto Enduro Test similar to last year’s but with a new start point, including narrow trails, climbs and off-camber sections; a fast Expotrade Cross Test close to the paddock, extended compared to last year for those willing to keep the throttle wide open; and a new Polisport Extreme Test, also in town, technical and demanding where mistakes can be costly. In short, a true old-school enduro challenge.

Action kicks off on Friday evening with the Akrapovic Super Test, located next to the paddock in full race atmosphere, starting at 20:00. Garcia was the fastest there in round one and repeating that performance in front of his home crowd would be the perfect way to start what promises to be an exciting weekend.

There will also be plenty to follow beyond the overall battle and class wins, where Garcia, Verona and Holcombe lead E1, E2 and E3 respectively. In the Expotrade FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship, Justine Martel arrives as leader after dominating in Italy, while Rachel Gutish and Sara Traini will aim to close the gap. In the Tsubaki FIM Junior Enduro World Championship, TM Moto Boano’s Alberto Elgari comes in as the benchmark after a double win in Sicily, with Romain Dagna and Leo Joyon looking to respond. And in the Putoline FIM Youth Enduro World Championship, Riccardo Pasquato defends the lead in a class that already produced two different winners in the opening round.

Oliana, a special round for WP Èric Augé

If we’re talking about racing at home, Oliana has a special name in the paddock: WP Èric Augé. For the Catalan team, this isn’t just a race close to home — it is home, with their base located in the town itself. Their riders will have extra motivation competing in front of local fans, just like the young RFME team riders, who get a perfect chance to measure themselves against the world’s best on home soil.

In total, 144 riders from 18 countries will line up in Oliana, including 32 entries in EnduroGP and 11 manufacturers represented in the premier class. A strong entry list for a second round that could start to define the true shape of the championship: Garcia arrives as leader, Freeman comes in on form, Verona wants to repeat his win here last year, and Holcombe is not back just to make up the numbers.

Oliana is ready. The championship too. And this weekend, rain or shine, it’s time for proper enduro at home.
