Australian champion and former Enduro Junior race winner, Kyron Bacon has joined the MGR-ASI Kawasaki to race a KX300X full-time in the 2025 EnduroGP World Championship.

In a move which has been on the cards for a couple of seasons now, 22-year-old Kyron Bacon has put pen to paper with the Italian MGR-ASI team. If that wasn’t enough the Tasmanian will face his first full season in Europe aboard a KX300X, a new bike developed by the team with Kawasaki Italy and the company KL Service plus Athena-GET.

Bacon will race Junior 2 class alongside Italian Davide Soreca, the former European and Italian champion, in the E1 class, who faces his third season for the Piedmont-based squad.

The team say Bacon, who only recently arrived in Italy, has already done his first tests, and has found “a good feeling with the bike and team”. This in a week when Kawasaki announced they’re bringing back their two-stroke models.

Bacon is no stranger to racing in Europe having jumped over a number of times in recent years to compete the odd EnduroGP round, where AORC (now AEC) commitments allowed) and to be part of the Australian ISDE team.

Kyron came over for two rounds of the 2024 FIM EnduroGP World Championship taking a 5-3 scorecard for an overall podium at the Italian GP. He impressively followed that with a double day win at the GP of Slovakia to win the Junior class overall.

The MGR-ASI Kawasaki team will make a racing debut on March 1-2 at the Assoluti d'Italia, the Italian Enduro Championship open to international riders and teams.

In the meantime, Bacon and Soreca continue their winter prep, focusing on the bike’s development in what is a promising addition to the paddock for Team Green and for Kyron going full-time.

“We’re thrilled to have reached an agreement with Kyron and to have renewed our partnership with Davide.” Says Enrico Garelli (Team Principal). “It didn’t take long to convince Kyron to move to Italy. We quickly found agreement on the most important aspects, both technical and financial. Despite his young age, he has shown a clear vision and is fully aware of his potential.

“Our role as a team is to support him in his technical decisions and help him adapt to a context very different from Tasmania. Together with Kawasaki Italy, KL Service, and Athena-GET, we’re working hard on the technical side, and I’m confident that our potential will be more than enough to aim for outstanding results.”

Kyron Bacon (Kawasaki KX300X): “I can honestly say that this is the beginning of a new adventure. I’m on the other side of the world from my home, and even though I’ve only been in Italy for a few days, I already feel very comfortable.

“The team’s organisation has provided me with optimal conditions and, above all, a high-performance bike before even starting the tests. We’re working hard to improve every single aspect, and I’m confident that we’ll be competitive from the first race.

“Our goal is to do our best in the Junior World Championship, but we also know that the Italian Championship is an excellent testing spot where I can compete with the best riders on the international stage, and I can’t wait to start racing.

“I want to thank the entire MGR-ASI Kawasaki team staff for their trust, and I hope to repay that trust with great results.”
