Lunigiana Enduro Team Sign Charlie Chater For EnduroGP World Championship
Italian Team Lunigiana Enduro has reshaped its 2026 racing programme by signing British rider Charlie Chater for the EnduroGP World Championship.
After “a difficult start to the year”, where they lost a rider to another team, the Lunigiana Enduro squad have reacted by investing in young, motivated rider Charlie Chater.
Already with several seasons of Youth and Junior world championship racing under his belt, Chater moved across to Sherco machinery in the off-season and this opportunity, though last minute, will represent a step up for the British rider.
Proven young talent
Born on 27 June 2002 and hailing from Shrewsbury, England, Charlie has built an impressive path through British enduro, collecting seven national titles, plus two ISDE Gold Medals at the 2022 edition in France and again in 2025 in Italy.
“Future development” features heavily in the announcement from the team who say Chater’s arrival “underlines Gianni Belloni’s [team owner] ability to identify promising riders and build a technical and sporting project around them.” That has long been one of the defining features of Team Lunigiana Enduro, and it remains a central part of the team’s direction for 2026, they add.
Charlie Chater’s official debut in Team Lunigiana colours is scheduled for the opening round of the 2026 Enduro World Championship on April 10-12 at the GP of Italy in Custonaci, Sicily.
Chater is already signed-up for the British Enduro Championship supported by Sherco UK and with the series beginning this weekend at the Jack Frost Enduro in Wales.
The team says the possibility of bringing Charlie Chater to the second round of the Italian Absolute Enduro Championship, this weekend in Pomarance had been considered but the clash with the British championship means the English rider will make his debut in Sicily.
Focus on the future
Team Lunigiana Enduro, say Charlie’s signature adds an important international dimension to their programme and a valuable opportunity to continue developing young talent on some of the sport’s biggest stages.
