FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship and Bajas World Cup Commission confirms the 2020 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge has been cancelled – riders and teams facing reduced preparation time as Dakar 2021 approaches.

In a statement released today, the FIM explains, “despite the best efforts of all parties involved and due to ongoing health concerns and associated restrictions in light of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the FIM, the Emirates Motorsport Organisation (EMSO) and the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) regret to announce the cancellation of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge rescheduled to take place from 20-26 November.”

The cancellation comes as a blow to many riders and teams increasingly searching the globe to prepare themselves for the fast approaching 2021 Dakar Rally. But the FIM say they are working to have a replacement event in the 2020 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship and will communicate further information as soon as possible.

On a positive note the FIM, the Emirates Motorsport Organisation (EMSO) and the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) confirm that the Dubai Intl. Baja will take place from 26-28 November.
