The Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship will welcome electric bikes to the EnduroGP category for 2026 – opening the way for manufacturers including Stark to enter official factory teams.

A lengthy process by the FIM and Prime Stadium Events – promoters of the Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship – electric powered vehicles (EPV) motorcycles will be eligible to compete in the EnduroGP category for the first time.

Electric bikes will compete alongside Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) machines for the outright EnduroGP world title plus Enduro1, Enduro2 and Enduro3.

The series promoters announcing the news do not make it clear how this will work in terms of power output and any limitations to match the classes but a quick dig into the regulations 9links below) shows how it will work.

With machines like the Stark Varg EX able to run with anything from 10hp to 80hp, power output needs to be controlled for the different classes. New regulations drawn up state “compulsory data-logging system must be fitted” and that maximum electric power output from the battery pack will be based on manufacturer voltage declaration which will be tested during scrutineering (live DC current measurement): 100A max for E1 Class, 125A in E2 Class and no limit for E3 Class.

FIM EnduroGP World Championship classes for solo motorcycles:

Enduro 1: Up to 250cc 2 stroke and 4 stroke + EPV*

Enduro 2: From 255cc to 450cc 4 stroke + EPV*

Enduro 3: Over 255cc 2 stroke and over 455cc 4 stroke + EPV*

* Electric Power Vehicles (EPV) are only accepted in EGP (E1, E2 and E3).

Electric bikes will run white backgrounds with black numbers, and upper line with colour of the class but are not permitted in Women’s Enduro, Junior Women’s Enduro, Junior, Youth or Enduro Open categories at present.

How will battery changes work?

Battery swaps will be allowed at the designated refuelling and service points during an EnduroGP event. Mechanics are allowed to help the rider, provided they follow the FIM Electric Motorbikes Procedures (already determined following testing and consultation with the manufacturers).

There will also be a dedicated Pit Lane for an EPV battery swap at each Special Test. While mechanics are permitted to help the rider change the battery, no additional time will be granted for the battery swap.
