2025 EnduroGP World Championship: Spanish GP Rnd 2 Preview and Entry List
The 2025 Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP World Championship heads to Oliana this weekend, May 2-4 for round two of the season – Garcia recovered and on home soil eyes up Zach Pichon’s championship points lead.
TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon couldn’t have wished for a better start to the 2025 EnduroGP season.
The frenchman made his best start to a season in his senior world championship career. It coincided with Josep Garcia arriving still recovering from a broken collarbone (albeit still taking a day win, somehow), both Brits Steve Holcombe and Brad Freeman not finishing the weekend due to serious knee injuries.
Andrea Verona put up a close fight in the rocks and ruts of Portugal but mistakes on day one allowed the French rider Pichon to make a dream start for the Boano team.
Round two in Spain, very much on reigning champion Garcia’s home territory, will serve up very different conditions to Portugal.
The Spanish GP is also doubling up as a round of the national enduro championship across the two days which means a lot of extra riders on the tests and that will play a factor.
Stage set in Oliana
The quiet town of Oliana will play host to the GP of Spain in the Catalan region just a couple of hours northwest of Barcelona.
The weekend begins with the Friday night Super Test in Oliana itself. At round one, it was Rieju Factory Team’s Dominik Olszowy who took the win. The Polish rider and the Rieju factory team are pretty much locals as well and will look to repeat the headline grabbing win.
Two big days of racing on Saturday and Sunday follow with the organisers, Moto Club Segre, working hard on a 55-kilometre course that consists the Extreme Test, Cross Test and Enduro Test before a lengthy liaison back to the paddock to complete each of the three lap per day.
Pichon starts GP of Spain with EnduroGP leader plate
Last time out, the GP of Portugal was one to remember for TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Zach Pichon. The Frenchman secured his debut EnduroGP victory on day two and with it took an early lead in the championship.
However, with the GP of Spain marking a home round for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia, Pichon will undoubtedly have a fight on his hands. The reigning EnduroGP champion surprised everyone including himself with the day one winner in Portugal but admitted to finding it tough on day two with his injury so recent.
Living only a stone’s throw away, this really is a home Grand Prix for the KTM rider who looked back to his usual self at last weekend’s Spanish Enduro Championship round two.

Verona making the 450 dance
Lying third overall, GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona will be the danger man both Pichon and Garcia need to watch out for. The Italian came within two seconds of beating Pichon in Portugal and arrives in Spain in form and showing the big 450 is a match for the smaller capacity rivals.
Behind the top three, the battle for the remainder of the top five is wide open, since the departure of Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team’s Steve Holcombe and Beta Factory Enduro Team’s Brad Freeman with injury.
In what’s developing into a minimum four-rider battle, it is Sherco Racing Factory’s Hamish Macdonald who holds onto fourth, with Honda Racing RedMoto Enduro Team’s Samuele Bernardini fifth.
Macdonald’s teammate Antoine Magain sits just two points behind them in sixth. The Belgian put in a strong ride in Portugal and is putting up a fight for Garcia in the Spanish national series.
Beta Factory Enduro Team’s Nathan Watson took fourth in EnduroGP on day two in Portugal as is certainly in the mix along with Triumph Factory Racing’s Mikael Persson and Fantic Factory Racing’s Albin Norrbin.
As always, the fight to be in the top 10 scratch is unbelievably competitive and always worth keeping your eye upon.
Bacon starts as rider to beat in Junior category
The FIM Junior Enduro World Championship saw MGR Kawasaki’s Kyron Bacon dominate proceedings at round one. The young Australian is now a permanent addition in the EnduroGP paddock for 2025 and is delivering on the promise he showed with guest rides in previous season.
France’s Leo Joyon (Beta) enjoyed a solid outing at round one and arrives at the GP of Spain tied on points for second with Fantic Factory Racing Enduro Team Specia’s Kevin Cristino. The duo will look to close the gap to Bacon in Oliana, as will Fantic Factory Racing Team’s Axel Semb in fourth. Also tied on points, Thibault Giraudon (Sherco) and Manuel Verzeroli (TM MOTO) are fifth and sixth, respectively.
Alberto holds early lead in Youth class
The FIM Youth Enduro World Championship sees TM MOTO Boano Factory Enduro Team’s Elgari Alberto emerge from round one at the top of the leaderboard, thanks to his day two win.
Team KTM Pro Racing Sport’s Romain Dagna is just two points behind in second, with the Fantic pairing of Pietro Scardina and Jose Ramdohr Rozas occupying third and fourth, respectively. Gabin Allemand (GASGAS) rounds out the top five heading into round two.
